Interesting comment. Makes me wonder what I would choose. Softer summer tires for traction or a harder tire for wear. At my age I'd likely opt for stones but then again, I wouldn't be putting many miles on it. Catch22.

Rear tires ? I bought ProTrac N50 15s when I built the truck thinking I would get 5000 miles out of them. They now have 35000 miles and a lot of burn outs on them and I think they will make another year. Bad news is 6 years ago a pair was $550. Now nearly $900.

The seller just installed the new wheels/tires about 2 months ago . I think they are 235/60R18 . So regardless of brand/tread wear rating they will establish the mileage baseline . I doubt they have 500 miles on them but unknown burnouts :D

I generally go with the softest most grippy tires I can find. I'd hate to want to panic stop or avoid something in the road while running ice-skate tires. I also find grippier tires more fun.
Impressive. I'm guessing you're not driving as hard as a youngster or doing nearly as many burn-outs. Most things temper with a little age.
Hopefully, you get decent wear and grip out of them.

I helped a friend in high school put a 350 into his chevy luv pick up. It was pretty bare bones with no AC and manual windows. It looked tough with wide low rear tires tho.

Hey guys how would you insure this S10 ? It is 26 years old but certainly not a beater . Our Volvo and GMC dually are insured with Allstate along with our house . The Porsches are agreed value with Porsche insurance .

Being retired I probably won't put a ton of mileage on the S10 . I very rarely drive in Atlanta so 99.5 % in rural Georgia . Any suggestions on how to insure this truck are appreciated . My gut tells me insure as a beater .

I'd get it appraised and insure it as a classic.

I just have liability on mine. I drive it too much to get collector insurance and I am not willing to pay for full coverage. If I have a fender bender I can fix that myself and if I total it I take a $10k loss. Its a risk I am willing to take.

Twenty + years ago Hot Rod Magazine did a Dyno test and Decibel test on mufflers. Borla had a model that was #2 in quiet and #2 in HP loss. Thaty what I ran on the Mustang. They were still loud so I added 18" resonaters as well

It depends on how much you save per year on the premium and what your deductible is. Let's say the premium is $900/year with a $1,000 deductible. If you drove accident-free for 10 years, you would have saved enough to offset a total loss. What if the premium was $450/year?

Well I have been driving it accident free for 6 years, only 4 to go.. I do mostly semi rural, low traffic driving so I am willing to risk it. Not unlike driving my Cayman S for 61/2 years without a warranty.

How much would comp and collision been per year?

I dont know. It would have to be agreed value insurance because if just insured as a basic 94 S10 it would only be covered for maybe $2500 I'd think.

I'm surprised this thing made it from the parking spot to the telephone pole with that set-up in snow. :cool:

Left at 5 and arrived home at 2 . Nine hours including stopping for fuel and quick lunch . No issues on the road it was a pleasant drive . Now have to get insurance and get her registered . Pics are from pulling into our driveway .
