Cool. Post up pics, before and after paint.

Good luck that this one is still there and correct and you can get it.

masraum 06-14-2024 05:31 AM

Now that you've had it a bit, is it everything that you expected/hoped?

I feel like it should drive/feel like it was factory based on what we've seen/heard so far.

Bruh...this is hella sweet, yo

*ducking* :D

He shoots he scores ! :D Arrived at the guys house at 9 this morning . A quick visual inspection and then the test fit . I quickly realized it was a perfect match so I paid the $200.00 we had agreed on and clamped it down with some C clamps and woodworking clamps . I was a little nervous on the drive home but she stayed put . The pics are before washing it inside and out . A lot of crud on the outside and some angry displaced ants and spiders on the inside .

It cleaned up good and ready for me to start the process of getting it ready to paint . I will probably pop all the windows and frames out to do a proper repaint inside and out . Just going white to match the truck . It's a Leer Crown model and obviously was made for an S10 .

So how does the truck drive after owning for a few weeks ? Just like it left the factory with a V8 in it . AC is ice cold , she idles perfect and runs great . Nothing to complain about and happy I bought her . My wife likes riding in it and says it rides smooth . Happy wife happy life ;)

In the pics I don't have it set perfectly in place , it needs to go forward about 1.5 inches or so . This was just to get her home . I need to order the bottom seal and proper bed clamps that will happen today . Plus the proper goop to reseal the windows . Hoping to snag a front sliding window for the cap as I want to add one to the truck also . The dog has to have AC too . :D

That'll look slick once painted.
Nice get!

Thanks . For $200.00 hard to go wrong . I think the dark windows of the cap go well with the tinted windows of the truck . I think it will look great once its painted .

My oldest son just came and helped me lift it off the truck . I have it on my car trailer that will be my temporary work space .

DonDavis 06-14-2024 01:56 PM

Yeah, that’s gonna look really great

That truck is such a fun get.

Presume you are going truck color for cap? Or maybe a little contrast like the color of the mag spokes.

JackDidley 06-14-2024 02:19 PM

You did good on that purchase. Warning, between the three windows and back glass you have over 100 screws to take out. Go to Menards for new screws if possible. Fastenal is way more expensive.

Good suggestion . I wonder if butyl tape was used to seal the window frames ?

I dont remember what was on the windows but I reused what was there. The guy I got my shell from gave me a roll of foam tape and all the clamps to hold it down. I do remember it was a pain to do all the screws. I flipped it over in the grass to put the windows in. You for sure dont want to try to put the windows back in with it on the truck.

rfuerst911sc 06-15-2024 08:17 AM

I have ordered six hold down clamps and the weatherstripping for the bottom of the shell to bed connection . To arrive on Monday . I won't need it that soon but good to get them out of the way . Between the 24 hours of Lemans and our 46th wedding anniversary on Monday I won't start work on it until Tuesday . SmileWavy

When you're done, I need to get a load of gravel...

Steve Carlton 06-15-2024 12:07 PM

Should I leave the hitch on it?
