Time to move again from Boxster to 911
It’s not the performance, it’s not the prestige, it’s the support. Not sure why but Boxster forums are dead. Considering they made like 200k 986’s and there now mostly 25 years old, you’d think there would be more chatter. Weird, I think it’s fallen off. When I had my 00 I use to get help all the time. Went to 996, plenty of support. Now back with an 02, crickets.
Maybe at the price point to get in and the cost of parts, people are just dumping them or leaving under a tarp in the backyard. Rant over. |

Hairdressers don't fix their own cars.
But seriously, which forum? Pelican? I think the water-cooled folks are on other sites... |

most 996 support is the same as 986 support. what kind of support/chatter are you looking for?

I do Pelican, Rennlist and the 986 forum. The 986 forum use to be super active. Not sure what happened.

Thanks, I’ll look into it.
Seriously sort of all in jest. IfI leave the Box world, I’ll be leaving the brand altogether. I swung by the dealership this morning (rush to get a part), all Cayennes, Macans and taycans. Great cars but not the excitement I use to feel. Not that they will miss me but I did hear the dealership is hurting. Anyhow, Don’t see selling it happen anytime soon, loving the car to much at this point. Thanks, I’ll check out Facebook even though I just got off 2 months ago. Damm😀 |

Pelican for air cooled and this great OT area, other sites for water cooled I have found.
Even the subforums like the GT2/3 ones on rennlist seem fairly active. there are guys wrenching on 997s there still! Plus, if you go to the new 911 areas the whole watch and wheel threads pop up pretty often and are hilarious. |

986 and Rennlist, nothing. I noticed the posts around mine aren’t moving either. Not a big deal, just surprising.

Back in 2015 when my Boxster S 3.6 engine was being built the 986 forum had lots of activity . Not sure what happened since but I agree the website seems to be on life support

If you go back to a 911 I think you should go with a 997.

I like my 997.1. However, I just read that the 997.2 is like the 993 of the air-cooleds.

That it’s the bestest of the bestest!
I jest, but I do love my 997.2 |

I was kidding. Plus, I’m done with 911’s, old and new. I’m more likely to get a 968, 944, mustang or Miata to be honest. My 911 lust has been over for a bit.
My question was just about replacing a ignition switch. I tried popping the old one in while I wait for the new one (I’m big on practice runs) and it only goes in about 90% of the way. I think the male part of the ignition is not lining up with female part of switch. Nothing major. I’ll get it to work. |
