computer virus
I was researching seat belts for my '65 Mustang. I clicked a link and Boom! I was getting continual pop ups/chimes saying that my laptop has a virus. I don't have anti-virus software. My McAffee expired long ago. I normally get these pop ups from MarketWatch and various Youtube channels I subscribed to which appear in the lower right corner.
But now, the pop ups were appearing continually, stacking on each other, saying that my Norton was expired, that my McAffee was expired, I had a Trojan Horse, etc. I re-upped McAffee for $50 which didn't do any good. I reverted to a prior Restore Point, which also did no good. I re-installed Chrome. Chrome said I was getting lots of notifications from (something)warmth.(something). I don't remember, I should have got a screenshot but didn't. But Chrome gave an option to block notifications from this sender. I clicked it, and just like that the pop ups stopped. Apparently, some dirtbag is able to hijack or mimic the notification feature and McAffee and Widows Defender don't see any problem. Anybody know anything about this? Is it a Trojan? A worm? Some other type of virus? Is this new?

Often, the virus warning is just a popup on a website page, which has no power to harm you or your computer, provided you don't act upon it.
What compromises your computer, is if you then follow the malicious instructions which promise to sort it out. In reality, those instructions are tricking you to let a malicious actor in, by entering your password, or downloading and running some program which is supposed to "fix" the nonexistent problem. The so-called "fix" is the real virus. If you haven't done that and you've just got some dodgy popups you may be able to turn your computer off and on and all will be good. Check for extensions/add-ons to your browser. Check in your installed software. Make sure that there's nothing new.
You may also want to check "task manager" to see if there's something running that shouldn't be. Unless you're positive don't delete/edit anything. Maybe report back with what you find.

I bet your PC does nightly backups and you can restore to an earlier timestamp.

I reverted to a Restore Point on June 6 but it did no good. The issue happened yesterday.

Check for new extensions and add-ons to your browser. Also check your installed software. You may also want to Google how to manually remove the virus.
