New tallest building in America proposed.

A 1907 ft tall building passing the 'One World Trade Center' building which is 1776 ft tall.

In Oklahoma City

The article says that the whole development, Boardwalk at Bricktown, would only cover three acres.
My lawn is almost 1.5 acres.....how can that be possible for a building that tall?

I can understand the building itself fitting on a 3 acre parcel....but they are saying all the other buildings making up B@B would fit into it.
Maybe...but I doubt it.

Our downtown is growing and very modern. The entire area has transformed in the last 20 years with several BILLION dollars invested. Right now the Devon tower is the tallest building with 50 stories.

The entire Bricktown area has developed into a entertainment district. We are building a new arena for the NBA team.

But yea, that tower has almost everyone saying show me the money.

Downtown has Bricktown, Uptown, and Automobile alley as growing new areas.

Check this out: It is all real now, not just computer wish.

^^^ It looks (from the link) very clean, modern and nice.
Been thru there (about 40 years ago) didn't look anything like that at that time.
It's a 14 hr drive from here.

40 years ago that area was mostly vacant old manufacturing facilities, parking lots, wasted space. I grew up there and worked in downtown OKC in the 90's. (now 90 miles east). They kicked off the MAPS project under Mayor Ron Norick in the 80's, a small sales tax I believe to start the funding for Bricktown. has not stopped since. The whole corridor across I-40, downtown is unrecognizable. Amazing amount of development along with a new arena potentially for the NBA franchise team.

You will not recognize that area now. I went down there to a wholesale pipe and plumbing company back in the 1980s. I remember thinking then, I don't want to ever be here at night. It is a family safe place now.

Every time I go down there it is different. We have a street car system, a canal and booming businesses. Yea, the one cent sales tax for MAPPS has generated a ton of money.

Porsche Parade for 2025 is going to be here. In the fancy Omni hotel. It will be an amazing experience for the attendees.

The First American Museum is really nice. They will open the new water-park in a few months.

Wow - OKC is all growed up! My nuclear family members minus myself were all born and raised in SW OK. Like Steve, it's probably been about 40 years since my last visit to OKC and the only water feature I recall seeing at that time was courtesy of an unattended water hose flooding the street.

I'd like to visit again soon.

That might be a good reason to see it. I haven't been to a Porsche Parade since the one in French Lick, IN.

How in the world is there enough demand for commercial real estate to make a building like that pencil out? Commercial vacancy is horrendous right now. Where are those new tenants going to come from?
