The Fastest Car in the World

The current record holder, since 1997 is the Thrust SSC. Here's a quick video from the balls-of-iron driver on how the supersonic record went down:

Wow! It would be hard to keep pushing faster when that steering wheel has to be moved that much. Incredible.

That is just an airplane with no wings. To call it a "car" is stretching the definition of car.

It is an amazing feat.

Yeah, can you imagine a street car so wonky the throttle controlled the handling?

Right, crazy, with 90º of opposite lock to keep the car straight in the 500-700mph range. I'm sure 90º of steering lock probably isn't as much as it sounds compared to a regular car. I suspect the front tire on that thing only turns a very limited amount. Still. Then he had to let off to get it straightened back out. Then once he broke ~700mph, the car tracked straight.

It's amazing that there was room in the thing for him and his huevos.
