Who has a 3D printer

that can print 14" OD rings? I did these Torque Thrusts in the 2-color motif using 1/8" tape following the step on the inside perimeter. Problem is the step is uneven and I need to reshoot them. Looking at them closely I don't think I can create a perfect circle by hand. But rings would provide for that even if the perfect circle overlapped uneven areas.

Happy to pay for time and materials, would need 5 of them and can provide exact dimensions.

I have a couple printers…sadly both will do 12.5” max.

You need a pretty special printer to go bigger. I could probably do these in 2 halves tho. That would fit on my print bed.

I have a bambu. I don’t think it’ll go to 14 inches.

But it could be a 2+ piece build.

Thanks guys, I am concerned about a join flaw though that could be remedied with epoxy and sanding/blending. I did a quick measurement but still think I would need to 13"+ OD. I just need the ID and can even tape over a .25" wide ring face. I'll measure better tomorrow.

I can do this on 2 halves that you glue together with abs cement or another adhesive of your choice.

Shaun, liquid mask or plasi-dip should work.

I don't think you'll get a good enough seal with a plastic print.

If you need to use sticky tape..... have a sign guy cut 14" circles?

No it won't. Full circle a little over 9", maybe 2 or 3 pieces creatively angled diagonally on the bed.

I've been printing for 13+ years, 1st printer was home-made, but picked up a Bambu 2 weeks ago. Already have 100+ hours on it. What a game changer.

Thank you UB. How thin can you print? but then I wouldn't be able to glue together unlessyou print 9/16 for both halves and I overlap.

I thought about having a sign company doing adhesive backed rings, the problem being centering and then sticking while keeping the ring centered.



Optimally I'd have a relatively thin ring to center on a bed of probably Elmer's glue. This would peel right off an existing surface of Cerakote.

How thin do you want these? I have done some 0.02” prints but it’s pretty flimsy. You want atleast .1”.

Shaun, IDK your timeframe, I have a printer that can do it in 1 shot but it's down for repair at least a month.

If you can get me accurate measurements, I can put it in cad for you.

I think .1 inch would be fine. I think "firm but flexible" is a good description. I will look again at the wheels today.

Now I'm wondering if I should just have a local sign shop either do rings in heavy vinyl that I glue down with Elmers or even laser cut thin plastic sheet.

Laser cut acrylic. Cleaner edge, one piece rings, cheap, quick.



If you print them in 2 or 3 sectors, add a pin and socket to each end so they click together (think Lego connectors)

Thank you UB and dad, I really appreciate the offers and effort. I studied the wheels today and one thing became evident, there are two different wheels styles, slightly, but still different. Also I think I will have to shoot both colors again to get perfect uniformity.

Given the different wheels and that I am pretty sure I'll need many sets of rings, I'm going to go with a local sign shop to cut rings, glue them on with Elmer's which is water soluble when dry. The main benefit of using the local shop is that if I get the rings and they aren't quite right for whatever reason, I can have new ones made same/next day with slight changes. Same goes for just needing more of them.

Why don't you have the sign shop print the masks out of adhesive vinyl like a decal?

Or, buy a beam compass that can accept an ex-acto #10 blade, and some 3M vinyl wrap off amazon or ebay and make your own rings in any diameter you want?
