Stuck at the Airport

I can see this happening to me.
Seat belt wouldn't release until car stops.

Yeah, no thanks. I’m honestly even more concerned about the people who block the robo taxis and then attempt to rob the passengers inside. I’ll stick with Uber.

I'm sure they are not used around the airport here (GRR)

I wouldn't use one if they were.

^^^ I'm taking that as the cust. rep was the 'she' and the app needed to be opened for her to take control.
Not sure what you are spotting with the red line.

Hahahaha, well played!

Considering I’ve never driven a car with self driving features that rank better than a drunk teenager, I’ll probably hold off on the autonomous thing for a while.

My wife and I were visiting one of our daughters in Chandler, AZ and she called for a WAYMO to take us to a restaurant one evening. I took a video while riding in it but don’t know how to post it. The ride was awesome…right on red, changing lanes as needed, always signaled, etc. When we got to the restaurant it pulled up out front and just sat there. The sliding door didn’t open automatically and wouldn’t open manually. The computer screen was stuck on 2 minutes to destination. There was a button to push and a lady answered. I explained what was going on and she said a technician was working on it. Within a minute or so, the door slid open, we got out and the van drove off.

Exactly, the cust svc rep was going to try to gain remote control of the vehicle and give it commands, but had a hard time doing it. I don't see anything significant about the identified statement other than that the cust svc rep had a hard time.

Nice, so all good until the kidnapping at the very end!

Maybe I am missing a reference... why is this a concern for someone in a robotaxi?

We were in Phoenix/Scottsdale last year. The Waymo vehicles are all over the place. At first I thought it was the Google map car. I had no interest in riding in one.

They physically block the robotaxi so it stops, then they rob the people inside. Robotaxis aren’t programmed to avoid carjacking yet.

Video of the guy stuck in the car. The car thought it was a NASCAR running the wrong direction.

Hmm, I see what you are saying about the robotaxi stopping if someone physically blocks it in but unless there have been actual instances of this happening for robbery (I couldn't find any) it seems low on the list of real world concerns related to autonomous vehicles... if you are driving somewhere where the difference between being robbed or not being robbed comes down to whether the driver knows how to get away then I think you have bigger issues
