Me too. You can't access any of my financial accounts without me returning a verification code that they send to my phone. I don't have access to any financial accounts on my phone. 2FA - I guess they gave up on MFA (Multi Factor Authentication - or just changed the name?)

Another benefit of MFA is if your account is breach they don’t have a leg to stand on…

I haven’t used PayPal in so long, I had to check and see if if I still had an account. I did and closed it.
I noticed several financial institutions I have are not set up for a 2FA, but I have facial recognition set up on them. Maybe between the password and the facial recognition is the same thing? |

I just bought a DJI drone.. and used PayPal to complete the transaction..BC I didn't want to give my CC number to agents of the Chinese gov...LOL
To complete the transaction it required 2FA or MFA ( as set up by me) to complete the transaction... A random code is sent to my phone, or e-mail. I have a feeling the chances of a bad actor knowing my e-mail, and a random numerical code are pretty slim.. BTW the phone # the code is sent to is not my "real" phone # its a google voice # Another degree of separation.. And you can chose which method you want to complete the transaction ![]()

G'day!
|
Thanks again for all the responses, guys.
I called my bank today and they will send PP a request to repay the amounts removed from my account. They said I'd receive a letter in no more than 10 days with the outcome. Sounded to me this was kind of a routine deal for the bank, which I felt was reassuring. Will let you know what happens......

Quick update - received a notification from PP last night just before going to bed that they are still going to deny my claim.
OK - I thought it's a good thing I reached out to my bank earlier in the day, so let's see what happens. So just a few minutes ago, I get another notification from PP that the funds are going BACK INTO my bank account. Moral to the story....your bank has the right leverage to help you (as was pointed out by others here in this thread) so make sure you get them involved!

Final (I hope) update....my Bank (TD Bank) ended up getting the 3 unauthorized transactions reversed, so I'm whole again.
Paypal was terrible at resolving the issue. Completely worthless! ![]()

This thread motivated me to close my PP account, which I did a week ago or so. Still waiting to hear from them on my request that they delete my data. They give themselves 30 days to respond to that.
And I think I am going to change some passwords and potentially even get a separate credit card.

Yea, sure. That seems right. ![]() With two factor authentication on my CC I don't need PayPal charging me extra.
