On to Baku

So group, guess I need to start somewhere. Here I am at the Centurion Lounge at PHX waiting for my delayed BA flight to London then onto Paris. I think I mentioned how difficult it was to find an itinerary from the Phoenix metro to Baku. So a RT from PHX to CDG via LHR then a one way on Azal Air (Azerbaijan Air) to Baku. Will let you know how that goes.

Next stop is the clown show that is Terminal 5 at LHR. I used to know how to game the system and not have to go all the way to security at terminal 5A. Will see if I can figure that out again. Will send update from LHR if I have time otherwise once I find my hotel at CDG will check in again.

Will be a long night.

There is a museum that connects BAKU to India and Hinduism. Baku has ground that was on fire, natural gas seeps that caught on fire. It was on one of the trade routes, part of the silk road.

And here is a perpetual fire natural gas seep

I eat a lot of breakfasts in that PHX Amex lounge. There's a non-stop now from PHX to CDG. Why go to LHR first?

Finally thru the clown show that is LHR. On to CDG. I booked this route to get AA miles. Guess it was worth it. More gratuitous pics.

CDG is a S$%^show in itself. Give yourself time for 2 passport checks manned by 3 clowns for 2500 people in line... I swore I'd never transit via CDG again, it's hard but I manage.. Dublin is awesome, and you pass immigration there on the way back and land "national"

Staying at the Sheraton at CDG and seem to remember a weird movie filmed here. Rebecca Stamos and a Latin actor.

Anyway please let me know what you would like me to show or discuss. Departure tomorrow around 1130 arrival 1730 local in Baku. May check in again tomorrow morning

The advantage to being in First/Business/Eco Plus is that you have different passport lines

I stayed there as I was trying to get back to Houston when Hurricane IKE was hitting in 2008. Room was small, but "whatever".

Good morning back at you, exciting stuff, enjoying the updates and flying business too

Over the last year I've done 7x UK to Japan flights in business class and have another 2x trips booked before Christmas

Business class is a game changer

I actually look forward to spending 14hrs chilling out on a plane

If I had the money I'd fly business everytime on long haul flights

Captain, I certainly agree. Did lots of Middle East and Asia trips. Business on Cathay, Emirates, Qatar, or even BA makes US based airline travel look shabby. The good thing was in the day our client contracts called for business class travel. Now on to Baku
