My only beef is that political organizations and charities are left out - the two most corrupt entities.

I looked it up, and these entities are also exempt:
So WTF is the point? Those are some of the biggest abusers! It seems like it's more of a 'protecting our market' sort of deal, than a real do-not-call list. Now these industries can rest assured that others won't excessively wear out the telephone welcome mat. And WTH would an *airline* want to telemarket? "Hey, we have a really great flight to Chicago, interested?"

The biggest abusers we get are damn recordings for carpet cleaning and mortgage brokers (who do NOT fall in the "banker" category, IMHO).
As for charities, I'm right there with you Thom. I like how our annual United Way drive always neglects to mention that UW scrapes 10% right off whatever you give them as "administrative" costs, before they even pass it on to whichever charities you tell them to.

I saw a list somewhere of large US "for profit" corporations that actually donate a larger percentage of their revenue to charity than many large "charitable" organizations. Ridiculous.
I quickly signed up for the do not call list before thinking it through. I am quite sure the government will now begin selling my phone number to political parties, airlines and banks.

I wonder how soon some company is going to come up with a website that promises to remove your phone # and then sells it to tele-marketers.
Hmm, makes you wonder..... Feelin' a little paranoid today, -Z-man.
