Dream Car of your birth year?

Idea gleaned from another board...the oldest car posted was a 1947 Buick Roadmaster Convertible. Problematic for me, born in '43...cars not being made during the war. I guess it would have to be a jeep for me.

Anyway, might be a fun one here. Name your birth year, pick your car? Could make an interesting list.

Born in 1959, so a 1959 356 Speedster for me. In white or silver, either, I'm not fussy.

Bill, there was no Speedster in 1959. I’m the same age, we would select a ‘59 356 Roadster or “Convertible D” or maybe a ‘59 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz convertible.

I was born in 1942. I don't renenber for sure, but it could be automobiles weren't being produced since it was during the war. At any rate, I've always hated the cars of the forties. They seemed like the ugliest cars ever produced.

I'm 1965 as well. I would like a 250 GT California Spyder.

Marv, with very few exceptions, cars were pretty mundane in the 1940s. The war had a lot to do with it with no new models being developed or produced for much of the decade. Things really took off in about 1949 with the Olds Rocket 88, Caddy fastback, etc.

During the war years, there were no cars produced for civilian use, according to my parents. Lots of rationing, tires & gas limited. I do know Ford was kept busy building Bombers, don't know about GM and Chrysler. For the most part, all of our industrial might turned to war production. My Dad had a Turkey Ranch, he & his brothers went to sign up after Pearl Harbor. The brothers were Army Air Corps. Dad was told to go back to his ranch & raise Turkeys for the Army.

So Marv, for us it would be Jeeps, Trucks, half tracks, etc...painted olive drab.

(edit) I love the lines of the '40 Ford Coupe. Never got around to having one though.

That would be something to have. They only made 31 Speedsters in 1959. I think they were all Carreras- but don’t quote me on that.

I’m torn between a 1950 Oldsmobile Rocket 88 and a Porsche coupe.

Tough one, I was born in 1974 so not really the golden era of cars but if I had to chose it would be the 911 Carrera RS 3.0 followed closely in second by the LP400 Countach.
