Another Phishing Scam

I received a phone call that someone had placed an order for a Laptop computer through my Amazon account and was being ordered from an old rental property address I used to own and being delivered to an address in New Mexico (I did not recognize).

My ears were up for a potential scam but they did not ask for any account numbers He asked if any back accounts were linked to the account and listed several different banks (which I confirmed the name of one of them). Because up to that point it didn’t seem like a scam I also mentioned that one of the addresses mentioned was a rental property I used to own.

I called my credit card linked to Amazon and they verified that no recent charges have been made on Amazon after all.

I realize it was a phishing attempt but did I give away any harmful info?

Scammers building files...any info given goes in. They hope to eventually get enough info to nail you.

It's time consuming, but you might want to watch a few "scammer payback" videos on Youtube to learn more.

Just answering the phone call is a win for the scammers.
Everything else is gravy.

they'll add your number to the list of active numbers
who may actually respond (IOW TARGETS) and sell the
revised list all over the scam world.

And the number of scammers who target you will go up again.

Do you have a recent termite inspection on the rental property? I’ve got a deal cooking on it.
