Paging Higgins : Porsche accident

Accident in Snoqualmie,Wa. Apparently the driver only had the car for
5 hours. Still had the dealer plates on it.

The big ol' wanger in that tree is a good fifty yards from the corner that he over cooked. The water is a lot farther down the embankment than the photo with the car shows. He musta been haulin' ass. That's the Snoqualmie River, pretty fast moving water. About a mile upstream from Snoqualmie Falls.

Funny, in the time we were stopped, probably half a dozen other cars stopped to look. The Cayman and Cayenne were up there independently of us. I shoulda set up a lemonade stand...

Good advertisement for taking a few performance driving classes when you buy your new to you GT3RS. Ouch!

He apparently traded in his GT3 Touring just an hour or so prior to landing in the river. Word has it he paid a substantial dealer markup on this car. I thought Porsche had come down pretty hard on dealerships that were doing this, but I guess I heard wrong. I've also heard that these are backordered a couple of years at least, but the "right" customer can get an "allocation" that allows them to jump the waiting list. For a fee...

So, while there might be a bit of schadenfreude involved in seeing some wealthy twat waffle with more money than skill (or sense) dunk his car, I still feel bad for the guy. This was certainly a "dream car", and it's certainly going to sting, if not financially, at least socially. He will forever be "that guy". Doesn't matter what he does from here.

I'm just glad he was unhurt. I lost two good friends who wound up in the Snohomish river 30 some years ago under similar circumstances. Both drowned trying to get the windows down or the doors open in a car with electric windows whose entire electrical system shorted when it went underwater. I have to wonder how this guy got out.

Well said Jeff. It is sad that Porsche went Ferrari's way. First you must become a favored customer in order to get on a list for a top model. Hey, it's just business, right? Way I see it, the world is full of things to develop an interest in.

If he had a GT3 Touring he must have reasonably known what he was doing. Enthusiasm, bad luck, who knows. I'm just pleased he survived.

Considering the location, PNW, and close to the Snoqualmie, wet road (maybe cool too) seems likely. Certainly wouldn't have helped.

Seems the car wasn't always underwater. I'm guessing it started out of water and then continued to move into the water over time.

Notice the strap on the rear tire. That photo is likely part of the recovery.

I am glad the owner is OK, just an expensive self cause wreck and no one else was hurt and no property damage.

Had the driver been operating the car as instructed in the drivers' manual, along with just plain good old common sense, this could not possibly happen. I wish all Porsche owners were as responsible and informed as you are regarding their operation and, more importantly, the limits of their operation.

FOA, he likely managed to get out before the car sank. It's a theory anyway. 2nd, the social sting you speak of will outlast the financial sting as long as anyone knows this guy. Regardless of what happened he is considered a clown.

I remember a person that I did some welding for many years ago. He was putting a G50 in an SC that required cutting the torsion tube and installing rear coilovers. My memory of the particulars has faded as I've forgotten more than many will ever know about 911's and 914's.

Anyway, he ran it into the side of a hill on one of the fun runs that used to occur on Thanksgiving and New Year's. This was right after he got the thing on the road. I saw the car being parted out in ads afterwards. He was not hurt.
