Brrr! High today at my place, only 67º! We've had mornings in the low to mid 40s and in the past 2 weeks afternoons have been anywhere from low 60s to high 80s. THat's about the same as last year.
Last year, we dipped into the 20s one morning about a week from now (Dec 10-11). If we stay out of the teens, I'll be pretty happy. If we mostly avoid the 20s and hard freezes, I'll be overjoyed. I'd love to have daytime temps that didn't dip below the upper 40s this winter. I guess we'll see what happens. Last winter was pretty mild here, I believe. Looking back to last year, we had about 4-5 consecutive days old crappy cold weather in mid-Jan.

Nine inches of snow at GRR (Gerald R Ford) two days ago.
Six more inches forecast for them tonight. Lows in the low 20's...not bad. Grass showing through the snow at my place.

I had to drive down to W Va to pick my son up from school last weekend . I left my house in a downpour and the temp was 38 Deg. Hit the mountains and watched the temp fall to 31, and gradually drove into roads completely iced over, then turning into a white out blizzard for 45 minutes . In the 3rd week of November .
I can drive in the snow, but in no way was prepared for that mess .

Not too bad here in the southwest corner of the country. About a month ago, we had some nights down in the 20s, but lately not much below the high 40s. Right now it's high 60s, clear, and sunny (elev. 3,500 ft.). This coming week looks to be very temporate and comfortable for a while. I feel lucky looking at the national weather map. We do need some rain, and the rain and winter months here are coming up.

I had an Aunt & Uncle that moved to Minot North Dakota many years ago, voluntarily. What the heck?!? When they eventually moved home (Florida), my cousins had posters on their bedroom walls of snow mobiles which seemed strange and hilarious to me. I did live in northern Japan when I was a kid twice. Both times that we lived there, we moved right around Jan 1, so we experienced 6 winters there. We got lots of snow. One year the accumulation through the winter was 240" (which was a record). We were coastal, so that helped the temps keep from getting super cold. The first snow was usually the first week of Nov (actually, I remember snow several times on Halloween). The last snow was usually around the middle of April. I miss the snow and winters, but then I didn't have to deal with it as much as my dad. I think his commute (probably one of the longer commutes on the base) was ~4 miles. In the winter, they never as far as I know, used salt. They plowed and used snow tires and if necessary snow chains (often necessary).

The " feels like " temp this morning is 21 degrees , for north Georgia that is cold . I filled up my diesel truck yesterday and added anti gel fuel treatment just to be safe . These temps are expected through the weekend . Not a fan
