when was your last speeding ticket?

grrrrr...

I got kinda turned around in a podunk town and ended up on an empty frontage road. I got popped. cop was nice and polite, and my wife was burning a spot on the side of my head with the hard stare. hahah

oh well. my last one was 2008 when I tested my Mazda Speedthree.
I called and traffic school was not an option. BOOOO!!

2015 in the south of France a speed camera got me at 7 over.
Only two in the previous 30 years (but several warnings)
I've lost track of the number of times I have been tooling along and had a feeling I should slow down around the next corner/over the next hill.
I have been very lucky.

Best

A few weeks ago. My son moved to a smallish college town in ID 8 miles from another small college town in WA. I got popped on the border by a WA state trooper. He said I was doing 55 in a 40. I was just driving with traffic. Others had recently passed me. It might have been the Macan. He was nice about it. Wrote me for 5 over. The ID trooper was just on the other side of the border waiting. Maybe they were having a friendly contest. Prior to that it was probably 15 years ago in Seattle in my old 911. There is a Porsche theme here I'm realizing.

Either 1978 or 1979. It was in the last millennium. So long ago, I don’t remember what year for sure.

Four radar camera tix in Austria and Switzerland this past summer, one manually written one in Benson, AZ Sept. 2023. I was on my bike, riding home from NOLA, had the cruise control on 104 mph for the whole trip, got down to 95 before he popped me. My radar detector had gotten fried in a rainstorm. Cop said, "20 over is criminal, but I don't think you're a criminal." Got a non-moving violation for "waste of a finite resource." No points.

I think it was 1961 when I got my last one, though I've been incredibly lucky since. I was driving my girlfriend's parents" 1960 Lincoln back from S.F. after droppiing my girlfriend off to fly off to college. On the return on Hwy. 52 coming into the San Joaquin Valley at around 1 AM, I was rocking along at about 100. There were no other cars on the road, except for one set of tail lights really far ahead. As I got closer, I slowed down and sure enough it was a CHP, and he pulled me over. He asked now fast I was going, and I told him about 65. If I remember right the speed limiit was 55. He said it looked like I was going close to 90+. He wrote me a ticket for 70. I was just happy he didn't find the open bottle of scotch under the seat.

Well, I just got back from Morocco in November. Where I rented a car. Ticket #1 was 10 Km out of Marrakesh (SP?) - a total shake down. No receipt. $40 straight into the cop's pocket. Ticket #2 - middle of absolutely NOWHERE, Morocco - was more of a road tax sort of thing. $15 but I got a receipt. Prior to that? 10 or 15 years clean.

2010ish? I almost fought it, I had turned right on a road from a complete stop, accelerated , then came to a complete stop for traffic. Stopped right in front of the cruiser sitting in a parkinglot. They claimed 63mph, while I claimed that there was no way on god's green earth that my car could go 0 to 63 to 0 in that distance (775 feet, I just double checked). I could get to 63, but not come to a safe and stable stop in that distance.

I didn't fight it, I generally consider speeding tickets to be the consolation prize for having a fun car

In CA? I find enforcement has gone down significantly during and since the pandemic. Combined with Waze, I have stayed clear for many years.

Long story, *might* have happened in Switzerland many moons ago :
Short gearbox, light 911. On a looong straight in the Alps, car maxed out in 5th (about 210 Km/h). Overtake one car, then 2 cyclists.
End of the straight, proverbial cop pops out from behind a bush…
Car stopped, window down.
- Do you know why I stopped you ?
– I might have been a bit fast.
– No, you overtook over a solid line.
– No, not true. The car I overtook where allowed, then avoided the 2 abreast cyclists later on the straight. I am not folding for that.
-Do you have your license ?
–No, it’s in my other car.
-Any ID ?
– No…
Cop gets to his motorbike, runs the plate, then comes back :
- that is 20 Fr for the no-license. You also said you were a bit fast. How fast ?
– oh, maybe 5-8 over…
- OK
Fine hapily paid. As the car starts, the cop leans in :
- I know what you’re doing with that car, but do it higher up the pass, OK ?
– Yes Sir !
Went a bit slower that day…
