Are you in FL? Coming down to City after New Years for birthday celebrations. Can't wait to see Starry Night.
Any wineries anywhere near him? Maybe a tour and tasting thing?

Otherwise, along the lines of "nice rocks glasses" - nice wine glasses? Or just a bottle of something really nice ...

And if you are anywhere near Gainesville you better let me know. I'm on vacay thru 1/6 and would love to meet up and say hi in person again

Can’t go wrong with a Buck 110. Inexpensive and great.

IDK, maybe it's just me but I don't get anything for my close friends and they don't get me anything. I simply call or text them to say "Thanks for being who you are, and I hope your Christmas and New Year are filled with happiness, joy, and good health" That and I always text them the South Park Christmas "Merry F'n Christmas" thing every year. Good friends are a gift all by themselves.

I have several friends that we both randomly send each other things in which we are both interested, for example 4-5 jars of chili oil/crisp went between me an a friend with pros and cons discussed of each and Christmas presents as well. Some small and thoughtful, others big and thoughtful, some just something. It's fun.

I went with Grant's (Tishabet) suggestion on Steuben. My friend appreciates good bourbon as much as I do and I think he will love the glass.

Thanks everyone for the great suggestions. Sometimes you just blank out and it's nice to see some good ideas. If I hadn't jumped on the glass, there were a few here that would have been equally well received.

A nice set of Glencairn glasses for bourbon tasting, and this very nice sipping bourbon.

I'm compelled to offer a dissenting opinion.
I advocate eliminating the custom of exchanging gifts for anyone over 21. Let's normalize not wasting money buying each other crap we don't want, and don't have room to store.

My gift idea doesn't take up much room for storage, probably wouldn't be around for very long anyway, and is consumable. Lol.

This is my thought as well... I have been trying to steer family and friends in this direction for years...

I see you’ve made your choice. I appreciate good drinking glasses myself. A good presentation makes a drink taste better!

I my stage of life I don’t want “things” as gifts. I’m downsizing as it is, so an object is just something else I’ll have to get rid of. Thoughtful consumables and kind words are more than welcome.

That works for cheap Chinese crap.

My friends and I mostly exchange experiences. Witness the coppa roast which will be the centerpiece of a fabulous dinner party tomorrow night with friends. A proper glass, as Patrick points out, makes any drink a better experience, and the Steuben will do that in spades.

I sent some from the Armenian bakery on the corner to Stephanie (PorscheGAL) and I don't she was super impressed with them. Not much in the way of Greek food in Boston.

It's true that tasting with your eyes is an important aspect to eating, and drinking. I love the layers of a properly made Sidecar in a martini glass.

I think lifting this glass for each sip will prove the equal.
