1961, at six years old, I got my first one. No oversight. Just a big tube of BB's.

Farmhouse property, though. Never broke anything or shot anyone or any of the farmers chickens or ducks. Lots of tree trunks.

I think seeing the farmer cut the head off of a duck and watching that thing thrash around gave me an appreciation for life so I did not act the fool.

Cool!!! We have a bb gun at the cabin that my Pawpaw got way before I was born. It has silver metalwork and a plastic stock, and I have never seen a brand name on it. It says "Apache Carbine" and "Made in Japan" on it. I have shot that little bb gun hundreds of times, and it is dead on accurate. True story, I saw my Pawpaw shoot a wasp with it once. We were on the boathouse patio at the cabin shooting cans with the bb gun when a wasp came buzzing around. The wasp flew up into a tree next to the boathouse, and my Pawpaw said, "Let me see that gun," so I handed it to him. He took aim at the wasp, looking almost straight up and fired off a shot. To my amazement, the wasp came spiraling down like a helicopter, landed on the boat ramp, and then a wave came up and washed it away into the lake. I will never forget that!!!

I remember the Christmas me and my Brother got our BB guns. Daisy but not the RR model.

I was 10, he was 11. Took down the tree and it was time to put the decorations away in the backyard shed.

We got the bright idea to string fishing line across the yard at an angle and place ornaments to slide along the line while we practiced "skeet shooting" like our Grandfather did with his old Winchester. Broke quite a few.

Well, I think the guns got taken away for a few weeks after that little stunt.

Want to be a kid again? Give a 7 year old boy a 10 minute safety talk and then let him shoot at a pie plate tacked to the back yard fence with your 70 y/o BB gun.

When I was a lil' boy my grandfather gave me a Daisy BB gun. I loved that thing. Sister shot me in the back with it - sure hurt. Come to think of it, it's better we were playing with guns instead of knives.

Initially had a Daisy Red Ryder, with free range in my neighborhood growing up. I Found it was fun but no power or accuracy. I think I gave it away. Next came an early edition Crosman PowerMaster 760 with added scope. I still have it and use regularly to dispatch squirrels off the bird feeder. The pump seals have degraded, and power is down. Scope is still zeroed in, head shots to kill. Pellet designs have come along way, love the newer GAMO types. I see 760 rebuild seal kits are still available, need to order.

Wife gave me a red ryder as a gag gift few years ago.

Yet it sits in the box, can't buy bb's in NJ w/o a permit.

I was probably around fourteen. Had a paper route so I had some money. Me and another friend bought these rifles. We'd put on two pairs of pants, a coat and Steve Canyon helmets with the face shield and have BB guns wars, shooting each other. Crazy how we managed to not get injured.

I thought the kids in my neighborhood were the only ones stupid enough to do that. It all came to an end when one of my buddies got one lodged in his earlobe (talk about one in a million) and went screaming home to his mom (we dealt with that little panzie later). The rest of us, of course, scattered like cockroaches. Unfortunately, the neighborhood mom "phone tree" was faster than us kids, and each and every one of us were confronted at home. We all had good stories, until our moms all noticed we were wearing three sweatshirts and two pairs of Levi's. In the middle of summer... The jig was up...
