That's uber cool, Bill.

That's a huge boat! From the front back I believe it's berth's, galley, idk, and engines? What goes on the empty areas? Is this a pleasure yacht?

HobieMarty 01-31-2025 12:34 PM

Fantastic! Thanks for sharing, and I'm looking forward to seeing the progress on it.

What size master cylinder are you going to have on it?
:D

Is this a rebuild of the bones of an old boat or a build from scratch? I assume the former?

What's the third shot from the bottom of, the stern?

rfuerst911sc 01-31-2025 01:57 PM

That is a block sanding monster !!! She is a beauty.

Scott Douglas 01-31-2025 02:10 PM

What is the prime mover going to be?
Perkins turbo 6-cyl?

VINMAN 01-31-2025 02:29 PM

I misspoke above, the big empty space ahead of the aft steering room is the engine room

either
MTU

or

Deere

YTBD

but here's the engine mount stringers

Okay, I'm going to thank all y'all in advance for allowing me to ask this. (I'm allowed because i know nothing about boats.)

Why is there an aft steering room? Is that where you drive the boat during a storm?

onewhippedpuppy 01-31-2025 04:28 PM

Awesome! What’s the full story with the build Bill? Are you commissioning this as a full custom, somewhat build to spec from an established builder, or are you full up DIY? I’m an avid boater and like watching people build their own boats on sites like the hull truth. As the owner of a piddly 30 ft boat I love to dream.

With a large vessel the rudder is powered by mechanisms (usually hydraulic) in the space where the rudder post comes into the hull. This equipment receives commands from the helm.

Thank you. That makes sense.
