Based on the first description, that's the sort of "rounded corners" that I thought Rutager was talking about, but that's not what he meant.

This thread is unusual. Usually this sort of question is answered shockingly fast, if not minutes, then ofter w/in about 4 hours. We're at days and got nothing.

Front loading and I think just a slot rather than a tray.

I did a bunch more imagine searching and I think the NAD brand may be the one, but I still haven’t seen one that completely matches my memory.

Glance at a Audiolab 6000CDT. Player with radius top and bottom edge Rotel CD 11 mk2. There is a chance what you remember was not a CD player but a CD transport, try searching that.

That’s close, but I was thinking the corner round overs were bigger. Thanks. I’ll also search for pure transports as well.

Kach,

There wasn’t any wood grain on the sides, the front panel was continuous from side to side and flat black, maybe with a slight grain.

Thanks

Heck yes!

It was almost 40 years ago, so I am very aware that my memory is likely off, so was hoping something would spark my memory and go “yes”, that’s the one!

So, very likely we’re chasing our tails, but I do appreciate all of the help and guesses.

Thanks,
Rutager

The op mentioned cambridge, so I'm guessing "not cambridge", but it sure does seem to fit (black fronts are available too)

That's a very "clean" front end, and it has rounded corners. I feel like that's the closest match to R's description so far.

Are you looking for a specific player due to quality or just for looks?

Very close if it was black and the cd slot and display were next to each other rather than stacked.

Joe,

Not really sure that I’m actually in the market for a CD player, although I do like CDs for their sound quality. I usually load them on my iPod uncompressed and then play the iPod through my tuner.

Just one of those things from my youth that for whatever reason popped into my head and I figured PP brain trust could help me figure it out.

Draw us a picture otherwise it can be anything from Adcom to Theta.

Yea, both are minimal buttons with curved edges.

I guessing it was something from Europe though.

After all the hours we've spent trying to find the player you are looking for, YOU OWE IT TO US to buy one.

I say find one that is the closest to what you described and then give it to the Pelican who came closest (I'll PM my address when you are ready

Let’s look at it this way, with all the time I kept you occupied on the CD player chase, that was that much less time for you to get into trouble with the law (or worse, your spouse), possibly saving you thousands in legal fees as well as jail time. You’re welcome and once we figure out the CD player, you can buy me one as my thanks!

Okay, seriously thanks to everyone who’s still on this wild goose chase even when we might actually looking for a robin.

The exposure on your linked list is similar to what I remember, except in black and with a slot not a tray.

The hard part about drawing it is I don’t actually have a super clear idea of what it looked like and my art skills are poor!
