As expected, Social media influencers now control the advertising and market industry

consumer-goods giant Unilever in June said it would pay more than 100 content creators (also known as “cleanfluencers”) to get more of its products such as Cif spray and Domestos toilet cleaner into videos on TikTok. TikTok says its “Cleantok” hashtag has amassed some-84 billion views—more than any other on the platform. and https://archive.ph/xpzHF The food industry pays ‘influencer’ dietitians to shape your eating habits they were paid to post the videos by American Beverage, a trade and lobbying group representing Coca-Cola, PepsiCo and other companies.

if she took the money she was offered to promote the supplements, she could afford to buy eight $1,450 designer Saint Laurent handbags and give $549 Apple AirPods Maxes to 20 of her friends.
That's about $20,000 for a post

Pleshek has 1.6 million followers on TikTok and companies pay him between $5,000 and $15,000 per post to feature their cleaning brands.

Glad I'm not one of the masses.

I'm definitely not in the tik-tok demographic. I guess it is what it is, as the kids say.

You are in one way or another when it comes to advertising. How can you not be?

Ever heard of Bud Light?
Pretty sure the sentiments in the board room at AB differ from this.

What boring lives these kids lead. Instead of actually doing something themselves they watch others on tik tok or follow the Most Amazing people on instagram. So if one of these really amazing people get paid to say dog food makes for the best chips and dips at a party they all do it.
One that makes me laugh is a youtube influencer for WD40. He's ferkin about with a motor bike and says to get rid of all sorts of specialist oils and use WD40 instead. |

I knew about BL and I let it be forgotten. I'll buy what I want. The only way influencers make any difference to me is if the store stops carrying a product. So far there's been plenty of BL.

Quote:
"Brave New World is a dystopian novel by English author Aldous Huxley, written in 1931 and published in 1932. Largely set in a futuristic World State, whose citizens are environmentally engineered into an intelligence-based social hierarchy, the novel anticipates huge scientific advancements in reproductive technology, sleep-learning, psychological manipulation and classical conditioning that are combined to make a dystopian society which is challenged by the story's protagonist. Huxley followed this book with a reassessment in essay form, Brave New World Revisited (1958), and with his final novel, Island (1962), the utopian counterpart. This novel is often compared to George Orwell's 1984 (1949)." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brave_New_World

I'd say that this is a more direct approach to the consumer along the lines of product placement on TV shows.

Imagine buying a green Mustang because you watched a Steve McQueen movie. That would be unbelievable!

Meh, just a different form of an established practice.
Every day time talk show that has ever "promoted" a product was paid to do so. You pay Oprah $100k to simply mention your product and you got it back 10 fold in sales.

Social media influencers have changed the way ads work because people trust them more than traditional ads. Companies pay them big money because their followers see them as real and relatable.
