Beautiful dy for a bike ride

Did a really nice 30mi ride today, took a detour on a stretch of the old Erie canal towpath, it's gravel which i usually try to avoid but it was worth it.

The old canal is across the Mohawk behind the opposite treeline.

Ice damage from this past winter, every spring this looks different.

Cool. Jealous. I really enjoyed riding back in the day. The wife hated it, and we don't really live in a good place to do it now.

Did about 16 miles around noon today....it was cooler than what I like.
I should have waited..about an hour ago the sun came out and it hit 70.

Your area looks about like here....need a warm rain and sun.

My commute is obnoxiously long (15 miles from the north side of Chicago to the south side), but when I take the lakefront route I really do appreciate the city.

That's pretty! Nice ride, and good on you!

It was about 70 today in Portland, too; A couple of friends and I had a little gravel ride on the outskirts of town. It's interesting how much 'buddier' the trees are compared to your area. (Unfortunately, no pictures except for the pickled octopus on a cracker, post-ride)

We had an almost old timey winter, things are just popping the last few days

It was sunny, no wind and 70 degrees today...perfect!
Roads are in bad shape this spring...really have to watch for large cracks and potholes.
Did 22 miles...felt good.

I did 26 miles Wednesday in my training for the MS ride. Todays is a day off. I want to be at 35 miles for a few rides a week before I go for the 50.

I've settled into two primary routes. One from my house and one where I have to drive to a bike trail. From my house I do a fairly hilly 18 mile out and back, with a big loop at the far end, but returning home on the same road on which I left. My bike trail ride is pretty flat, following a slough that connects two lakes. It's about a 30 mile ride, out and back on the same trail.

I started riding again in early January, resolving to ride at least five days a week, regardless of weather. Believe me, this spring weather is more than welcome after having ridden in the rain, and even snow at first. The bike trail is in great shape, and our roads are generally pretty good. We don't get the frost heave and all of that that colder areas suffer.

I'm working on new routes that will extend my mileage. The nicer weather sure makes that a lot more appealing. And, with that nicer weather, I am oh so happy that I laid the groundwork in spite of the weather, so now I can enjoy the ride all that much more.

Had to check the date - thought this was about Dr Hoffmans "most interesting bicycle ride home" after accidentally dosing himself with LSD....
