New additions to my boat

I added a couple of things to my boat this year. Fishing is getting expensive.

First I added a trolling motor. My boat is 32’ long so it’s a beast of a motor. 96” long shaft and 36 volt battery. But now when I’m offshore instead of fooling with a anchor I just use spot lock.

Another neat thing is I put a low light camera on the boat. We generally leave in the dark, and even though I have radar, it doesn’t show things floating in the water. Here is a pic taken at the same time on my canal. The lines on the monitor are from the pic, monitor is clear.

Nice! Modern trolling motors are amazing, I installed one on my father in law’s 18’ fishing boat. The low light camera is pretty impressive, I would be nervous on that canal in pitch darkness. We boat at night on the lake but it’s wide open and there’s plenty of ambient light from the shore.

Here’s my spring project, a Wetsounds soundbar mounted on the hard top facing aft to help us hear music better when we’re floating behind the boat.

It the new power pole offshore model. You can even get one with a 110” shaft.

I looked at the Minn Kota quest, auto deploy model. I was going to go with the 100” model. But saw where they were having a problem with the shafts breaking. Also figured they added more things to break, and it would break when I’m 50 miles out and the waves were picking up.

Supposedly it doesn’t take much to work. The guy making them said it’s not going to work if you’re offshore and overcast. But said a couple of stars is all it takes. I’m more worried about the canals and harbor, so it should work fine. I still have radar, so this is in addition to that.

The guy making/selling these just started. He was working for Microsoft, but had a boating accident and got into making these. He also sells a thermal model.

I’m going out Sunday and will be able to see how it does at speed. It is amazing how I can see the black fence and the house at the end of the canal, also the palm trees. I can’t see them without the camera.
