65 miles or 115 miles. I'm generally at least 60 miles from EVERYWHERE.

My place to the westernmost edge of Houston - 55-60 miles
downtown Houston 82 miles
downtown Austin 82 miles
And Houston and it's 'burbs are roughly 50 miles in diameter.

Rather than buy a bench grinder, why not buy stock in the company that makes the blades for your mower? Seems like they might have a repeat customer which should keep sales going.

I think you should buy every bench grinder you can find that seems reasonable, corner the market, then mark them up 10% making the last one free to you.

LOL! That sounds like a plan, corner the market on bench grinders, mark them up since there will be a low supply, and then flood the market at high prices until the price bottoms out. Folks will be using them as door stops by the time I'm done, and I'll be rich!

I'd forget about trying to sharpen those with a bench grinder. That downward drop spells doom. That's straight up an angle grinder job IMO.

It's faster, easier, and does a better job.

It doesn't seem to heat the blade as much, I think because the friction isn't localized like it is on a grinding wheel. It's easy to keep a nice, flat angle, too.
After I did the first one, I got out all my old blades and resurrected them. I had a couple of blades that had big chunks knocked out of them. Used the grinder to square off the edge until I got a straight edge without any missing places, and put a sharp edge on it with the angle grinder.

You guys were right. The angle grinder with a flap disc is a VERY quick and easy way to sharpen mower blades!

Its because an angle grinder runs at like 3x the rpm of a bench grinder. I wouldnt suggest buying gator blades. When they get old those fins break off and throw off the balance so you dont get as much life out of them.
