Don't shake your fist at Kia minivan drivers in Portland suburbs!!

This is wild. Dare I say ugly?

"Shortly after 6 a.m., police say the driver of a blue late-model Kia Carnival sideswiped a motorcycle, causing the rider to lose control. The driver of the Kia then sped off, and police believe their actions were intentional.

Dash camera video shared by police shows the motorcycle rider talking to the driver of the Kia moments before the driver barrels into the left side of the motorcycle. The driver of the minivan steers into the motorcyclist, knocking the rider to the ground and pushing the rider across two lanes of traffic to the shoulder of the road. The driver of the Kia is then seen quickly switching lanes and speeding off.

The motorcycle rider who wasn’t identified suffered serious injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment. Their condition is not known.
Police describe the driver of the Kia as a man about 30 to 40 years old with a black beard.

Police are asking anyone with information on the crash to contact Officer Nick Coplin at 971-253-9710 or the non-emergency line at 503-629-0111."

Pretty ugly indeed. I wonder if the Kia driver cut off the motorcycle earlier before the video.
Something like this I'm sure they will catch the Kia driver. Jail for sure.

Remember! The gross tonnage rule always applies. Or another way of saying it, pick on someone your own size. Bad move by person on the bike in the crazy world we live in.

Reason 10,001 why I would be terrified to ride a motorcycle in traffic.

I suspect that the KIA driver will get some time to think about his actions, likely several years. And, a very hefty lawsuit - the ambo chasers are probably queued up outside his hospital room with offers.
Long list of possible charges here from the traffic infractions to attempted murder, causing grievous bodily injury, assault with a motor vehicle. I hope that he is quaking and crapping himself waiting for the knock on the door that will come. Probably wishing he had it to do over again but it is way beyond that. Two screwed up lives because of a bit of aggravation.
This sort of thing makes me glad I sold my Z1 several years ago. Just too damn dangerous to ride in urban areas these days, even without road rage incidents.

Technically the biker started it, but I put almost all blame on the driver. Escalating from minor property damage to attempted homicide. And being an incompetent idiot car handler.

Crazy!

On a slightly happier motorcycle story: a co-worker got recently hit by car changing lanes when he was on his motorcycle. He didn't crash but definitely knocked him around enough that he pulled to the shoulder to regain his wits. The car driver pulled over too, got out of the car, walked up to my friend and hugged him. He apologized profusely and said he was so glad he didn't crash the bike. My friend looked at the side of the car and mentioned all the car damage. The driver said f my car, I'm just glad you're OK!

I'd image the Kia driver has some metal issues that were triggered.

Metal issues? Like he had to cut his hair, or can't wear his old denim jacket, or maybe a neck problem so can't head-bang any more?

Maybe the video that I saw didn't show that. What did the biker do? All I saw was him holding a hand up and looking towards the van which is not really "starting it".
