While they have redone the entire downtown within the last decade, the true nature of the city is very evident as the condemned neighborhoods are literally across the street from the reinvigorated areas… car carcasses in the front yards of burnt out houses are my favorite sites to see… drugs and murder are very high. LE find a lot of execution style homicides to this very day.

PS. The places you mention are outside of Detroit. but you know that.
How much time have you actually spent in Detroit, and when was that? Posts like this are ridiculous.

Few months now. Suburbs and Detroit proper.

The only allure to Detroit is the sporting events and casinos. Maybe throw in some environmental remediation… lol

If you have any interest whatsoever in Egyptology, American and Post Impressionist art, Antiquites (such as Medieval Armory, aka shiny Knights), miniatures, and just about anything else that has happened since about 5,000 years ago, The Detroit Institute of Arts is an absolute must. The DIA just so happens to have the world’s seventh most important collection of anything created by man in the entire world, except cars.

For cars go to the Henry Ford Museum.

I don't recall what year it was, but my parents took me there when I was younger. I thought it was pretty cool.

My father was a huge Tiger fan and I went with him and G'pa to Detroit numerous times in the 60's.
During the 68 season, we were there at least 5 times...once to see Denny McLain win his 30th.
Didn't get there for the WS....but did for the final game in 84

It was a long trip back then from Grand Rapids...I-96 wasn't there yet. Grand River avenue almost the whole way.
