Tell me About Property in Probate
Found a piece of land that checks a lot of boxes for me.
1.5 aces, brick home built in the’80s. The whole place is a mess, but could be a smoking deal for the right buyer. Is there a way to track the probate process for this place without raising questions? A family member we talked to knows the kids in line to get the place and they have nothing. They are whacky young adults with no money and zero interest in the home. All they want is their money and be done with it. |

Since the horrendous process is public, you can go to the courthouse website and should be able to follow court filings to see where it is in the process.

You need to find out through the court records who the executor of the estate is. Only he/she has the authority to sell the real estate, otherwise it goes to the beneficiaries of the estate. If the will provides that real estate goes to specific beneficiaries, only they can sell it after probate ends. Find out who the exec is and contact them.

You can sometimes accelerate the process for the property next to yours that has a nuisance notice you create.

Bought a parcel that had something to do with probate. Took a bunch of signatures from different parties. Turned out okay.
