Rider who fled police at 150 mph on I-84 turns himself in

http://www.ktvb.com/article/news/local/motorcyclist-surrenders-after-high-speed-i-84-chase-idaho/277-80c92d47-0963-4afe-8f8f-1fbc5b474060

From the article, it was the ‘distinctively skinny legs’ that spelled doom for the perp. A warning for future eluders - all the trousers all the time. (ATTATT).

My guess is that this guy won't get a chance to be an organ donor. If he had gone down in the chase, considering his choice of safety gear, there likely wouldn't have been enough left to donate.

I've been on the hunt for a pair of quality motorcycling shorts and Birkenstocks.

If you pair those with a tank top and baseball hat, you'll be good to go.

Skinny legs are more aerodynamic, although 150mph for the Hayabusa is just a trot. The wind chill factor on the penis probably caused severe shrinkage, though.

When I was in college, I had run uptown one hot summer day and hit an angled expansion joint while riding with just one hand on the bars of my Nighthawk 650..... Instant lock to lock handlebar headshake. I hit the pavement at 60 mph wearing only a pair of shorts sunglasses and tennis shoes. Had road rash all over my back elbows hands and knees.
Never went to hospital. I lived on a sheet laying on my belly on my parent's family room floor for a couple weeks. very painful especially as the oozing stopped and scabs started forming.

If she's a 200 pounder there will be plenty to scrape off the pavement

When I was 18 I had a Yamaha RD350 . I was tooling along on a two lane road going about 70 mph . All of a sudden all hell broke loose ! All I knew is I was skidding my rear tire and I wasn't applying the brake . That bike was a squirrelly nightmare as it scrubbed off speed . It wasn't my skill but just dumb luck I kept the bike upright .

When we finally stopped the smell of burnt rubber was heavy . I put the sidestand down and got off the bike . I looked at the road and the black rubber line was intense . So what happened ? The chain snapped and some how wrapped around the spokes/brake hub/swing arm . Instant lockup . I called my father to come pick me up . As I waited I noticed the rear tire was flat . Yeah it burned down to the cords and all the air leaked out .

When my day showed up he asked me " you OK " ? I said yes . He looked at the rubber streak on the road and said " the speed limit is 40 " . I said yes . He had a smirk on his face as we loaded the bike into our truck . He never said anything else after that . I was lucky in many ways that day

Hmm.. I once passed a big rig on my pedal bike on the sough side of Col de Galibier in France, hitting a top speed of 100 km/hr (62 mph) I've always though that if I went down, I would have had no chance of survival. But I guess you're saying there's still a chance.

Yikes. And Double yikes. Tim, I'm glad it wasn't worse.

I try hard to not think about the 'what ifs?" that I lived through as a kid. When those thoughts do get through, I get a collective case of 'the willies' that can last minutes.

I had one as well at that age. GREAT bike! Many years later I had a customer who raced motorcycles professionally. He said the RD stood for "Rapid Death."

A few years prior to that I bought a 1 year old Honda ATC 250 three wheeler (first year for the two stroke. I think it was a 1981 model) from the boss at my summer job. I had agreed to work it off (which would have taken me years at that rate LOL)

Second day I had it, I was riding a fifth gear tapped out wheely down a local road. Stupidly my right foot was back on the rear bar (not on the foot peg where the rear foot brake is). It got too high and I came off the back doing probably at least 50 mph. Once again no helmet.... I was wearing a long sleeve jersey, jeans and tennis shoes. Road rash on many parts but not as bad as my later street bike crash. My parents made me return the 3 wheeler to my boss with my tail between my legs.

This go around I had to sleep/live on my dad's lazyboy with sheets protecting it from the oozing road rash.

Prior to all that I had an old KX250 that I would ride up and down my road wearing nothing but shorts and tennis shoes. I could do fifth gear wheelies for hundreds of yards up and down our road while standing both feet on the back of the seat. I guess I watched too many Evil Kneivel events as a kid. LOL

Umm, I also have been guilty of doing the young and stupid thing.

When I was 15 and wearing board shorts and t-shirt + helmet, I was riding at 50mph on the Honda 125 doing "slalom" zig zags with the white lines down the middle of the road. Quite good fun. Then the back wheel spun out. and down I went

One of the techs that worked with me said, “hey, you have…oh never mind, I thought you had white strings hanging out of your shorts but it’s your legs.” Wise guy.

Lucky Legs. That was my nick name at school too.

The girls used to say "Lucky Legs, lucky they don't break."
