Turtle causes plane crash in NC
No word of the type of turtle or if it is being held by authorities.

When we first started our aerial photo business, I regularly hired the owner of a flight school to fly me on projects. He had an old (1960s) Cessna 172. One day we saw a deer on the runway and he called one of his mechanics to get the 4x4 and chase it off the property.
He then told me one time just as he was about to rotate, a deer ran out and the wing strut hit the deer. It threw the aircraft sideways, and he had to use many years of instructing and flying to get it back over the runway, and get stopped. The good news is he had a long runway, and that was his first aborted take off. The strut had a lot of damage and it took a lot of time to get it fixed, and back in service. He was a bit sensitivve to deer on the runway, and I was glad he was!

A couple weeks ago, I was driving a slightly hilly county road when I came over a hill and there was a pickup completely stopped in my lane. I could have made the stop, but it would have been close.
There was no on-coming traffic so I swerved over and passed in the other lane. When I was even with the truck I saw a man and woman looking down and ahead. Then I saw it..they were stopped for a small paint turtle that was in his lane.  He could have easily straddled the thing with his tires...they aren't that fast.
