I'd try Febreze for the bin odor. I was surprised to learn it's not just a smell good cleaning product but actually a chemical that P&G developed on accident, tried to market as an incredible odor eliminator but when that didn't take off, they added more smell and marketed it as a light cleaning product.

I have. I worked as an orderly at a hospital during my college days. i'd have to clean the O.R. rooms after emergency surgeries.

I was mopping the scrub area when they wheeled a new patient in. After about 2 minutes into the surgery they came bursting back out and grabbed a tray of "essential oils" and that's when the smell hit me!

The guy had about 2-3 feet of dead bowel. They had all of his intestine piled up on a stainless table over the operating table. I wondered how they were going to repack all of that back in when they were finished.

One of the worst was back in the day when Egg City was operating between Moorpark and Fillmore. The smell of chicken poop on a warm day was something else!

Egg City
In 1961, Julius Goldman founded Egg City, the largest chicken ranch in the United States at the time, located just north of Moorpark. Many chicken coops were spread over acres of concrete, with millions of chickens in them. Local residents were somewhat irked by the farm, when the smell of it wafted to Moorpark on windy days. The odors also commonly flowed to the nearby town of Fillmore. The business suffered a setback in 1972, when millions of chickens were slaughtered because of the threat of Newcastle disease. Egg gathering was done from 36 houses by hand, with workers placing eggs onto plastic flats while riding electric carts. Liquid, dry and shell eggs were processed at the 8,000-square-foot (740 m2) hatchery facility warehouse, with yolk and albumen available individually. The farm finally closed in 1996. In early December 2006, a wildfire destroyed the dilapidated remains of Egg City.[

Three bicycle stories.

1. One local dude I rode with had the worst B.O. It was concentrated ass, a millionfold power, and you could smell him a mile away. One day, while closely following him in a race, a drop of his nasty arse sweat dripped off his back, and went right down my gullet. I started choking on it. I would have rather inhale mace.

2. Riding a bike up a mountain, you are working hard and going slow. Dead/rotting roadkill in the summer heat are bad, as you ride up to it, and can't get by it in short order. Worse yet, you have to breath labored/heavy to muster up the power to get past it. At full speed, you might be going past the carcass at 2-3mph. Walking speed. It's a slow speed trainwreck of olfactory hell- specially a bloated deer with some buzzards chewing his butt out.

3. Another riding up a mountain story- HOT sweltering day. Sun beats down on a very steep mountain pass. Once again, breathing heavy, working hard, hot and burning.

Down the road comes a torrent of running water. "It's water from heaven" I exclaimed. It covered the entire lane and within no time, I was riding though it, and the tires splashed it all over me. There was really no way to avoid it. Where does a mysterious river of water come from in such a dry hot day?

The RV that dumped it's waste tanks as it took the twisty turns right ahead of me. Not only did it smell of raw sewage, I wore it.

I should give up biking.
