Help yourself. I’ve been to all of them. The Red Mule is just a bar, they serve food that’s good after a few drinks. Not a place for lunch. The Eaton Place is awful. If I wasn’t typing this out on an iPad I would describe the lunch I had there. Suffice to say - there should be more inside a cabbage roll than sauerkraut and ketchup. Home cookin’ ain’t necessary good cooking. Blu Sky is - interesting. Think overweight young folk with blue hair and bare midriffs serving $12 chicken wraps.

Weird, guess somebody likes them. They all had good reviews. Normally when I travel I just look for local joints with good reviews and roll the dice. Way more fun than fast food.

I plan on letting g you one day. Always have. Youre south of me in LA? Or I vaguely remember you moving? Or did I dream that part?

I’ve been watching FOID INSIDER, where an American and a British person go around Los Angeles eating stuff. Pizza, tacos, BBQ, etc. I have questions.

I’m still in LA, buddy and I’d love to get a call from you. We’d have a ball. I’m at Chi Dynasty right now waiting for my Orange Chicken and watching the Dodgers game.

Wait…food just arrived!

I generally sit at the bar because it’s less painful on my back, but I like your reason better(I love brunettes too). Been to long since I’ve been to Cali, hopefully I can correct that soon.

Outstanding! They walk it out to you. Fresh.

Culver's is pretty good stuff. I looked up what exactly makes a "butter burger" a "butter burger" once and all I saw was that the burger is on a toasted buttered bun. Okay, that's how I do it at home so, what's the big deal???

If there’s anything better than watching Ohtani, Mookie, Freddy and the boys play baseball while eating this food, I haven’t experienced it.

Just think, if you were sitting at the bar your view would improve.

It's been a while since I've been to CA too ... Hermosa Bch. (LAX) was about the extent of all my visits to LA .

I'd have three things on my "to do" list now...

Ask Wayne if I could come visit Cooper
Ask Denis to "show me his" LA.
Drive up the PCH until I met a guy who would take me fishin'

If Byron would drop by and gimme a ride on his way there ....

I have had one in my life.

It's more of a "This is perfect" sensation. The bun has to have something to do with it. The meat is never frozen and seared, I read. A mild charbroiled taste. It's not too heavy and almost like a smash burger. No overload of salt for preservation per my taste buds.

Simply tasty. No more than that.

Once you get out of the hellish LA traffic, it’s hard to beat a drive up PCH. My wife and I took a long weekend in Callabassas, spent a lot of the time just cruising the coast. Beautiful scenery and roads everywhere.

When we eat out, it’s always bar seating unless we have the entire family. You get the best service, normally the bartenders actually know what they’re talking about, and yes sometimes the scenery doesn’t suck either.

Happy you liked it.
When I first tried them, I went with the single patty. Second try, I thought the double patty would be better yet. I was wrong.

For me..the add-ons (lettuce, tomato, mayo, etc) were not enough on the double patty. Some may say it's enough. Either way...it's worth the try.

I can only do Taco Bell after 11 pm when I’m good and drunk. And always regret it the next day….

its the right move. funny how as you age, the drunk hour moves up and up. under the same strategy, I would be taco-bell-grande by 9:00 pm.

remember when it was 2:00 am? hahahah

People have wildly varying ideas about which burger is best, even in a place where lots of choices are available. The newspaper here has run articles where their food critics debate the topic. I personally don't care for the really fancy or "artisan" ones, it's a freaking hamburger, ffs.

So no aioli or bleu cheese for me, I tend to like things fairly basic but just done really, really well. I had my favorite hamburger in LA last night at The Apple Pan in West LA, I always order the Hickory Burger w/ cheese and no mayo. Their recipe, besides the secret sauce, is a huge chunk of fresh iceberg lettuce that makes it sort of a "lettuce burger." It took some getting used to at first but I'm completely addicted to the place now. Their pies are the best in town as well and I usually have slice of hot apple pie with ice cream but they were completely sold out of every pie last night because people order them for 4th of July parties! Oh well, next time. And they are open until 11pm every night, midnight on Fri/Sat:

Note: The red sauce is not ketchup. It's a tangy sauce of their recipe.
