At least the drivers didn't shout at each other in the wheel-to-wheel racing scenes...
There was the obligatory scene where one driver mashes the throttle to pass. |
PCA Riverside scheduled a viewing at a local theater this past Saturday (and they invited some of us Vineyard Region folks). Great time with great folks!
I really like the movie, a lot. Sure there was some stuff that is Hollywood, but it made the movie entertaining. I liked that many of last years drivers were in the movie, it reminded me of Grand Prix, with all the great drivers of that era. For what it is worth, I liked Ford vs. Ferrari. The friends that saw it with me asked alot of questions about that era of racing, and Ken Miles was one of my childhood heroes. Le Mans; of course, love it, but another great movie was "Rush". For those that have not seen F1, I say go. It is one of those moves that should be viewed the old fashion way, in a Cinima. |
For what it's worth, I don't hate F vs F; there's a lot to like, for instance, they gave the great Phil Remington a spotlight, and the sets - especially the garages - had a lot of cool vintage stuff to drool over.
Car guys like us have been lucky with movies in the last decade or so with Rush and F v F and now F1 to be able to see a mainstream look at 'our' sport, and have a nice little online discussion. |

Wasn't there a rally movie last year - Lancia vs Audi? I didn't see it, is it streaming anywhere?

I see this. Rent on YouTube, Amazon, or Apple TV in 4K. Stream on Roku in HD with ads.

My favorite parts of Ford vs Ferrari were just watching Damon tool around early 1960s Southern California in a Cobra. Dang, I really missed the Golden Age.

NOT! |
Saw the movie last night, Enjoyed it like everyone else. The row I was sitting in was full
and occupied by all women. So the film certainly has broad appeal. No pun intended. The theatre was hot, the air conditioning must heve been off, was the only downside. |
"The row I was sitting in was full and occupied by all women."
Saw an interview with Nico Rosberg some weeks back and he said females are the biggest growing demographic in F1. |
They were probably there for a Pitt stop.

clever!

My wife and I saw it today. We enjoyed it, but it is Hollywood. An old driver steps into a modern F1 car and learns the steering wheel and the multiple changes to the car needed on each lap done via the steering wheel switches.
I was surprised they never mentioned just getting on the podium. Still it was entertaining, and actually had several good intentional laughs, that made the audience laugh. I would love to see the documentary on how they filmed it. Recreating the pits for the team, and all the branding. They made Vegas look great. |
I saw it earlier this afternoon with my eldest daughter. She liked it even though she not into F1.
- Great feel good movie and I really liked the ending. |
