I think a year for a young kid is a long time because it's 1/8th of their whole life. Whereas for an old git like me a year is only 1/66th of my life. No wonder it flies by without having really done anything

Yep. We measure time with a linear scale. We experience time proportionally.
I had this conversation with my granddaughter a couple of days ago.
