Two guys are able to win, but we both know who will be on the podium in France. I have a man crush on Remco but I don't think he has what it takes to do it.

Matteo is from my hometown; small town boy does good, and I'm always cheering when he gets the go ahead to take points.
No one was going to beat Pog at this years Dauphiné, I didn't think Vingge looked that strong, and it seemed like Visma was saving matches all week long, so I like to think Jorgenson'll have fresh legs for the Td'F. 3rd place in Paris?

First week and a half has a lot of punchy, classics-like stages. Pogacar will have opportunities to pick up bonus seconds on Vinegaard. Evenpol could do well there too, but his form seems really variable even from day to day. Nutrition? Vinegaard will have to stay close into the high mountains, and hope that longer climbs at altitude are his advantage . . . but Pogacar was dominant in Dauphine stages 7-8 which were basically TdF mountain stages.

Richard Carapaz ruled out of Tour de France with stomach infection
Richard Carapaz will not race at this year’s Tour de France due to a gastrointestinal infection, the Ecuadorian has confirmed. Carapaz, who was crowned the Tour’s king of the mountains and won the overall combativity award in 2024, will not compete after symptoms of abdominal pain and a high fever while training for the race in Ecuador. He underwent several rounds of medical tests that revealed the infection, which was confirmed by additional scans and imaging, and is currently receiving antibiotics and medication. It comes less than a month after the 32-year-old record a podium finish at the Giro d’Italia. ![]()

Giro deja vu? Wout van Aert falls ill ahead of Tour de France and skips national championships
Wout van Aert reached tremendous form during the spring classics but his momentum was completely interrupted by an illness he has in late April ahead of the Giro d'Italia which hampered his preparation quite a lot. Now, similar is happening before the Tour de France. The Belgian rider began the Giro with poor form and only in stage 9 did he show the best version of himself, going on to win the iconic Siena stage which also put Isaac del Toro in the race lead. He ended up showing good form on a few other stages in the race and helping Simon Yates to victory, and the team hopes he can do the same with Jonas Vingegaard this July.

NBC's 2025 Tour de France team
Paul Burmeister presents NBC's coverage of the 2025 Tour de France, with former US pros Brent Bookwalter and Tejay van Garderen on hand for studio analysis. In the commentary booth are the veteran Phil Liggett – who has called more than 50 Tours – and Bob Roll. Former Tour de France contender Christian Vande Velde provides insights, often from inside the race on the motorbike, while further reporting comes from Steve Porino.

I'm glad to see Phil is back, I guess. And I like Bobke, and Christian does a terrific job out on the course. NBC really does do a good job with the TdF.
Am I wrong in remembering tat Tejay and Brent kind of got caught up in a few dick-measuring contests last year? Or was that just the early morning and I was hpersensitive to bickering?

WVA sick. Bad for fans and Vingegaard. Kuss doesn’t seem to have much form. I think Vingegaard’s mountain support will be Jorgensen and Yates.

Talk about how Visma, Quickstep, Red Bull need to work together to attack UAE, but when do teams ever do that? Working together means sometimes sacrifice. Sacrifice a minute or two, and teams are thinking of protecting podium, no more working together.

I think Remco and QS will shine in the first week and a half, before the high mountains. Then Remco's climbing and lack of Landa will be a problem.

^^^ Ya know, EF actually has a decent line-up and probably a couple of stage wins in there.
