3/4" T111 is a hundred bucks a sheet
Helping a friend repair weather damage on an old outbuilding that's being repurposed as a studio-slash-storage unit.
T-111 used to be a budget product, for people that couldn't or wouldn't afford cedar shakes or clapboard. I don't do construction for a living, so, I had a little sticker shock at the lumberyard. I'm glad a single sheet can cover all the repairs needed. (I'm also glad my friend isn't a total cheapskate, because bondo or Durhams Rock Hard would make for ****ty looking repairs, even if it is only an outbuilding)

Yeah, the 3/4 is pricey. Recently bought 19/32 for $43 last week. I'm in a lumber place or home center numerous times a week. Lumber $$ fluctuate daily.

$43 is a hell of a deal, and I would do that if it was an option here. HD wants $55 for 7/16. No amount of putting sleepers down is going to make that work and look good.
It's expensive living in the PNW.

Those prices are apparently the norm now. A Douglas fir 2x4-8 is $5.19 here in Ohio.

Hey guys, the house across the street is getting a new roof. They dropped off asphalt shingles the other day, they've sheeted the whole roof with plywood. Now they're putting down a white roll material where I thought they'd be using the old tar paper roll roofing material.
What's up with that?

Hey Herr O. There is a discount building materials place in Sherwood that has killer prices. Their inventory is not particularly dependable so you might call before making the drive. I bought a bunch of plywood there last year and built a shed. It wasn't anywhere near $100. I saw you got your one and done sheet. Just a heads up for the next job.

I just looked it up. I didn't recall the name. Building Material Resources is the name.
I think they buy end runs and weird lots. Prices were excellent but inventory was not 100%. I was not a fan of their screws, which broke on me. |
