I build my own motorhome
As many here are interested on anything on wheels, I thought I share a project that kept me busy for about 2 years.
I could not find what I wanted, a motorhome that can carry a (race) car and still have some sufficient living space, so I decided to build my own. It took almost 2500 hours from drawing to first use. Took it out for the first time last weekend, and it worked great!! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1755967928.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1755967928.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1755967928.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1755967928.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1755967928.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1755968256.jpg |
That’s really quite something. You have more pictures?
|
That looks incredible. I can’t wait for a tour at the next RMM race.
|
That’s freaking awesome! We need more details and pictures.
|
Wow. Lots of tallent and iniative on display. Great work.
|
To quote a friend of mine, who was admonished for swearing on a CB radio way back in the day, then promised never to do it again just before he got the mike back:
"****te, farck, damn, over"... That is a work of art and function. Wow. |
Freightliner chassis ? Very nice work 👏
|
Impressive to say the least. Beautiful inside and out. Show a pic with the car inside?
|
Stunning. Very impressive fabrication skills.
|
Yes I started with a Freightliner Cascadia road truck. I extended, double framed it and build a box on it.
Here are some more pictures of the frame and box build. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1755978878.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1755978878.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1755978878.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1755978878.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1755978878.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1755978878.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1755978878.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1755978878.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1755978878.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1755978878.jpg |
Nice. That’s what I’d like to have.
|
More pictures of the box and lift gate. It took a fair bit of time and effort to get the liftgate right, but it seems to work fine!

Certainly looks stout
Have you had it on a scale? |
So what are you going to build next week :p
Amazing build. Design and fabricate the dream car hauler and motorhome. |
I feel inferior now. :D
|
A lot of welds in that bad boy !!!!! Congratulations on the build .
|
holy ****!!!
I'll go get a membership at the talentless forum now... I cant cut plastic!!! hahahah.. |
This is incredible! Looks very over-built relative to the commercially available stuff, that’s for sure.
Two of the pictures actually look like one of the sides slides out, like a camper. The couches area looks like it extends well beyond the cab cutout. Am I seeing that correctly? Because I’m the skeleton framing photos, that doesn’t look possible. |

The execution of your project rrental is OUTSTANDING! I have what looks to be about the same amount of space in trailer form... I can haul my race car in the garage and there's living quarters in the front. I think I like your solution better! The overall length of your setup I bet is shorter than mine, which is nice. That's a pretty incredible set up too. Not only a fifth wheeler but I can hear it now "get that stinky car out of my living room!"
