Neighbors property

My neighbor about 500 yards up from my place is putting their house on 7 acres on the market. He and his wife are survivalists . They freaked out when Obama was elected and conveyed that this country would collapse. They triple fenced their property and went off grid. We have a road association and some minimal CC&R’s. Should be interesting to see what happens.

I bet they’re moving to Montana!

WPOZZZ 08-30-2025 01:11 PM

You should buy the place and prep for the Zombie Apocalypse!

Triple fenced? KILL ZONE! Just need to add search lights at the corners.

Bugsinrugs 08-30-2025 04:22 PM

He has cameras mounted everywhere. Retired engineer/lawyer. What makes people so paranoid?

There’s a house in Santa Cruz that I should photograph and post. Same thing, retired Engineer with crazy fencing, cameras and foil everywhere, I s*!T you not. And this is in a VERY ordinary, residential neighborhood.

Idaho.... All the kooks and retired LEO go to Idaho. There are communities there that have an overwhelming % of retired LEO residents. My buddy has 2 sisters that married cops and both husbands have retired there.

I will hold additional comments until after this thread is moved...

Yeah, we need pics of the nutter's homes.

I really don't get it at all.

Will do, lol. Coincidently, first saw it while my daughter and I were trying to find a nice looking Longhood that she saw on the way home from work one day.

When one realizes how the real world operates, they become very paranoid… the world ain’t sunshine and rainbows….

70SATMan 08-30-2025 09:14 PM

Must suck to be so fearful. That’s the root of paranoia.

...so one puts up fences and foil when they realize this?

Not in my world....

Arizona_928 08-31-2025 05:11 AM

To recluse themselves, sure. The fences and cameras are no different than the bourgeoisie that live in gated communities with security or every suburban mom with a ring camera.

My brother in the PNW has a nutter living across his backyard fence. I actually worked with the guy for a few months less than 10 years ago and while seemingly eccentric then, he's in full bloom now. The nutter has a camera pointed directly at my brother's back patio.

My across the street neighbor is also quite paranoid. He sends me screen shots from his security cameras. The pics are exclusively of neighborhood dogs that wander into his yard (never mind his dog is routinely all over the place).

Security camera installation services must have some great stories.

The cameras everywhere deal seems to affect ex cops disproportionately.
Not sure if it’s correlation or causation..

+1.

Fences and foil are two completely different things, fences are a very reasonable item to control access to your property.

Foil is a crazy reaction to thinking you can block out radio waves, 5g mind control waves and other electronic signals from your property. Although it sends a strong message to normal people that you probably should be avoided!

Triple fenced, off grid, and aluminum foil on the windows is quite a bit different than a gated community.

A fence and security cameras isn't weird at all, actually quite normal these days (I don't live in a gated community nor have I ever had security cameras). But "triple fenced" is VERY weird.
