Better days ahead. Look forward to the new journey.
I find it interesting how people get attached to things like homes, cars etc. I don't know why, but I can sell "stuff" without being attached to it in any way.

Good job looking after the boss as painful as it may be.
That is a beautiful home.

You'll be fine Patrick, change is good.
Not to hijack but I retired and made the move from SoCal to Arizona. Went from a 5 bed/3 bath house with stairs and we bought a 3 bed/2 bath single story home, open floor plan with a pool in a nice area called "The Bridges". I didn't know if I'd have problems adjusting but I can tell you it's a great transition. A little warm (but it's a "dry heat") that's why a pool was mandatory in the search. And my yearly homeowner's insurance premium went from $8k a year to $628. Property tax went from $10k to $2400. Welcome to Casa De Craigster..... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

G'day!

Congrats, Craig...on both retirement and the new pad!
Make sure you remove the flower stalks on that Queen Palm when they are still in the "spear" stage to avoid a mess underneath so close to your pool.

Funny this thread popped up. Wife and I are talking about selling our primary home. It’s just too much house, expensive to maintain. Kid is graduated from college, we don’t entertain like we used to. Selling this place opens up a lot of possibilities.

Completely understood Patrick. It is a "dream home" and you made it such, which is why it is so difficult to leave.
We had a lovely custom home in SoCal on a hill overlooking a storied golf course and I could have easily lived there forever. Life situations changed and we sold it after 15 years and moved to be closer to kids/grandkids. Our current home is nice, if less magnificent. The big plus is that we can see the kids/grandkids often, and easily lock up and leave this one for extended travel which is how we often spend our time these days. A new life chapter begins. Best wishes!

Thanks Alarick! And just think, with the new home loan once I turn 96 y.o. it will be all mine!
![]() If you and the kids want to come out for Barrett-Jackson you have a place to stay. Bring your bathing suits!

Thanks Baz. I'll keep an eye them. Right now the Plumeria is the one dropping leaves.

Patrick, you are choosing your wife's happiness over this beautiful property and I admire you. For over a decade my wife has been physically disabled and I retired a year early to take full time care of her. It is not for everybody but it is a priority for me. Keep your memories but look out the windshield not the rear view mirror.
