Frankenstein
Guillermo Del Torro's version releases in theaters Oct 17th (including some IMAX), then to Netflix Nov 7th. The cast includes Oscar Isaac and Christoph Waltz. I'm up for it. I think the visuals will be first class.

Definitely looking forward to this one. Pan's Labyrinth was one of the truly great films of the last 25 years IMO.

I can tell from that preview, Young Frankenstein is closer to the original story, and a lot funnier!

https://www.netflix.com/tudum/articles/frankenstein-book-adaptation-guillermo-del-toro
It's supposed have a limited release on 10/17, but I can't find it until 10/23, and it's very limited. There's a two part miniseries done by Hallmark in 2004 that's supposed to be the closest adaptation to Mary Shelley's novel Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus. Not highly rated, but it streams on Amazon, so I'll watch it. Supposedly, the creature isn't as ugly or mean as is should be. I should read the book. I've heard all kinds of weird stuff happens.

Seeing it tomorrow night. Since Netflix produced it, AMC and Showcase aren't running it. or they cant, not sure. Seeing it at a local movie house which I like supporting.

I’m a fan of Del Toro, the amazing story, Oscar Isaac, and Christolphe Waltz. The surprise for me was Jacob Elordi, who played the monster. Del Toro delivers a lot of stunning visuals, but it’s too long at 2.5 hours. Waltz doesn’t get enough to work with and is wasted. The old blind man is terrific and finds the monster’s humanity. The monster is extremely powerful and indestructible, and reflects a child’s needs, sad heart, and enormously forgiving nature. Not perfect, but very good.

I see that it's on Netflix next week...I'll watch it then.
If it even comes somewhat close to 'Pan's Labyrinth'...it'll be worth watching. .

So nice to have a remake that isn't Spiderman.

It's not even somewhat close. or vaguely close. in fact it doesn't have any of the magic his other movies do. but you should see it.
