Been around a bit. Lived in 12 countries and seen 114 more.
Every state in the country, all of Canada and every country in CenAmerica and most countries in South America. Really the only countries that I have not been to are those that you really do not want to go to like Iran, Yemen, Ruwanda, Buthan and so on. Lived in Africa (Lagos Nigeria) and spent 6 months in Moscow (Late Oct until May, yes it was cold) and garden spots like Saudi Arabia....two year tour there. Retired now, have ZERO need to travel anymore, just very happy that I can sleep in my own bed almost every night and never eat hotel food again!

Otherwise would have to say Berlin Germany is my favorite city, lived there for 11 years, flew medivac out of Tempelhof Air Base in the 1980's and 1990's. Was flying a heart transplant mission the night the Berlin Wall fell. Fantastic times. Smaller city would be Copenhagen Denmark. Beautiful place, great people and friendly as well. Places with a beach... there are two. First one is not easy to get to but the Maledive Islands SouthEast of India is one of the most beautiful places on Earth. Otherwise Tahiti and/or Fiji are very nice. For a large Island the South Island of New Zealand is heaven on Earth.

Boy Howdy! When they heard we had retired, people would ask if we were going to travel. Hell no. We retired so we could stay home. I wouldn’t mind experiencing new places, I just don’t want the pain of getting there.

About 30 different countries so far, most recently (last 10 years) France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Poland, Ireland, Scotland, Guatemala, Mexico, Ecuador, Peru, Chile, China, Morocco, Austria, Hungary, Czech Republic, Turkey, Greece, Canada, Dominican Republic, Iceland, Germany, bunch of smaller-tiny countries. All US states except Pacific NW and Alaska.
Thinking back on all these journeys makes me think of the crappiest airlines we ever had the misfortune to ride on. Could be a good thread to explore, maybe it's been done already.. |

Like Joeksa, I did too!
My ROCN contacts when I spent a month in country teaching them the joys of small ship landings. Both great humans but chatty like you read about! ![]() BTW, Shinrai, the map link is neat...a lot smarter than I am so I have now visited every corner of the known planet.
