Blow
Watched it last night on Netflix. Guessing I must be the last person on Earth to have never seen it. What a great movie. Of course it’s 24 years old. If you haven’t seen it, check it out. Depp was made for the role, and the story line is far better than most of the trash coming out of Hollywood.

I haven't seen it. Depp is, IMO, an excellent actor. I don't think I've ever seen him put on a poor performance in anything. I figure he's probably at least a bit crazy, but most of the best actors (artists) seem to be.

I haven't seen it either.
As to Depp, Gilbert Grape and Benny & Joon were memorable movies. I didn't want to like the remake of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, but I did.

First Depp movie I remember seeing. I am a fan. I think he is crazy too. Thats ok. He just has to entertain me, and that he does.

It was very disturbing when the daughter started sleeping with the drug dealer. I cringed.

I think that I've told the story here before but I attended the premiere of Blow and went to the after party. The premiere was @ The Mann's Chinese theater and for the party, we walked 2 blocks down Hollywood Blvd. to the Egyptian Theater and American Cinematheque event space. The walk was almost as much fun as the party but that's another story.
It was a bash for the ages, just good old fashioned Hollywood excess and debauchery. Johnny spent the night in and out of a Star Wagon, (trailer), with Marilyn Manson. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that they were using drugs. All of the rest of the cast was there, I sat at a big round table with Elizabeth Hurley and a bunch of other Brits. She was a chain smoker and about as sexy as an ashtray to me. They had little miniature movie posters folded into bindles scattered all over the tables, I grabbed a bunch of them and threw them in my top dresser drawer where they remained for a couple of decades until I gave them to Ted Demme's two children in 2024, I could not believe that they did not have any and they were thrilled to get them. He died shortly after the film was released, (and shortly after that premiere and party), his son was an infant and daughter was a toddler. Maybe TMI but yeah, I've seen it and this thread really brought up some memories. Those were the days...my life is quiet now and I'm happy about that. I will never feel like I missed out on "going to the party."

Maybe someone could explain something I've never understood. Why do they call cocaine, blow? You didn't blow it. You inhale it.

Because when you chop it up it’s physical form becomes powder which can blow away.
