If this was my table, I would sand off the finish completely. Once you get to bare wood, do as John says and save some of the saw dust which you can mix with wood glue and fill the crack. I would also use clamps after gluing to try and squeeze the crack back together. Glue will be stronger than the wood itself.

He's really good. I confess to having watched a bunch of his videos over the years, not to learn how to do it but just because it's more interesting than regular TV. Binge-watched the guy, for hours on end...
