Well, that is different

Got a new door to the back porch. I went to take out the pin on one of the hinges to put in an adjustable stop and found this:

The door is in the center of three glass panels so can't put a stop on the 'wall' and I don't want to put a floor mounted stop. Any suggestions?

If you just don't want a lump in the floor but you're willing there are those magnetic flush mount ones. A lump, but a smaller one.

I'm not sure what happens when I loosen the set screw but from what I can tell, the unit doesn't have pin that slides out...

You MUST undo the allen bolt.
This is bigger than all of us.
It is your destiny.

.....until the grub screw is removed and the pin tapped out.

I'm with LeakySeals on this. The grub screw must come out!

Can you install a base bump on the door? I do that when I can’t install on the base.

I take a base bump over a hinge bump any day of the week.

We use those, when the hinge pin side is on the outside of the door. I call them pick proof hinges.

The solution hinges on the pin. It’s pivotal.

Yes a security hinge.

I don't like hinge stops either, too much torque on the screws

In the industry they are NRP's and required on outswing commercial. We did a test — remove all the pins and try and get the hinge barrels to slide past each other, By the time you fool with that you could be inside with the same large pry bar needed to move the door over to get those to pass. IF you know how and have the tool, you can bend the hinge barrels away and they will pass each other. Common thieves are so stupid they will walk by 3 easy opportunities and begin hacking at something much more difficult.

The correct size brake fitting wrench is the preferred tool. Yeah, tweakers have lot of those.

I could take the pins with me and leave and feel safe.
