Android or Iphone ?

What do the PP guys prefer? I have always used android phones unil I dropped the old one and broke the screen. Went looking at new phones and they are all huge. I dont see the need for a phone to be so big. I hate carrying a big phone so I ended up with an Iphone 13 mini. They dont make this phone any more so I had to find a used one. At least that is how it was listed but it has 100% battery life, latest OS and looks new. Very small. Anyway I have had it 2 weeks and sort of hate the user interface. I am getting used to it but still prefer android.

My old one is a Moto g5g, I think. Really user freindly. Killer battery life but really big to me. When I dropped it, it broke the lower 1/4" of the scren and it drove me crazy seeing it. Fingerprints drive me crazy too. I also have Tracfone. I pay around $190/year and never run out of data or anything.

Same thing happened to my Moto G7...I used it without a cover and shattered the back of the phone.
This one I bought this case for it and have dropped it and it was fine...$6
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CRL34WH5?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_ti tle_2&th=1

I pay $25 for 3 months service. A few times a year, when I use the navigation a lot, I have to add a $10 3Gig data card. They make it easy to do over the Moto.

I started out a diehard Android guy. I had the first 2 Google phones (G1 and G2) and then had a similar phone as a third phone. Back then, I think Android had more/better features than the iPhones. The main thing that I didn't like about the Androids back then was that most of the big manufacturers had their own bloatware attached that I either didn't want or I believe slowed the phones down.

After a while, we had some other apple stuff in the family, iPads and other iPhones etc.... At that point, I felt like Apple had caught up with most of the features in Android, but they had 2 "features" that made them pull ahead. If you have other Apple stuff (computers or pads) or family members with iPhones and iPads, then the interoperability of all of the devices in the eco/techno-system is a big feature that sets Apple apart.

I also feel like Apple pretty consistently has better hardware that lasts longer. We usually have our phones at least 4-5 years from introduction. They are usually still working, but maybe getting a little slow or antiquated when we upgrade. We usually don't buy the newest/current model but buy one of the last two previous models depending upon the deal we find.

So, I'm Apple today. I was Android, but it's been years since I had one.
Benefits of Apple
1) interoperability with other Apple stuff whether it's yours or others that you communicate with
2) better hardware (more durable, reliable, and long lasting).

Of course, these are just my opinion.

Between the wife and I and the two sets of kids (2 grown married kids and their spouses) and my mom before she passed away, everyone had iPhones except our son-in-law.

Sending group texts with photos and/or videos of the grandkids work flawlessly as long as the Son-in-Law isn't included in the group. When he gets added, things mostly work, but occasionally don't work.

Android user here with a Galaxy A54 . For me before cellphones were invented I used Windows at work and home . When cellphones became a thing it was an easy transition to Android . I would think the scenario would be the same for an Apple user . It's just what you are used to or comfortable with .

I hope I get used to this iphone. I seems to be better as I go along. One thing it does not do well is bluetooth to my linux laptop. I like to send pics from he phone to the laptop and that is iffy at best. My work around is I email the pics.

I’m completely addicted to the the Apple ecosystem. I think, in terms of tech, other phones are probably better, but I like that when I take a pic, it’s automatically on my ipad, imac, etc. I’ve got over 10,000 songs on my phone and I like that whenever I get a new phone everything just transfers over…

I still have my iPhone 1, or Original. It still turns on, and WiFi works fine.

I usually go 5 years between upgrades. I have a 16 Pro with 256 Gig of memory. I love the camera, and it is just amazing the great photos I can get. My wife also has a n iPhone, and she uses an iPad she would fight to the death to keep.

They big pain in the butt with the iPhone is iTunes. I use it to back up my phone to my computer, and add photos in libraries. I have been using computers since the early 1980s, and hands down iTunes is the biggest POS worthless garbage program ever written. "It sucks" is being kind.

So I do my backups, and add some photos into a folder to organize the 60 GB of photos I have on my phone. It is like wrestling a pig to do it.

If I did not have a zillion photos, I could do the backup on "the iCloud" but that is not possible, or at least economical with 150 Gig of stuff on my phone.

I guess I have committed to this Apple thing . Possibly six months from now I will drink the Koolaide and go all in with this like my freinds. For now, I have the icloud turned off. I dont do music on my phone either. I am not really into the whole smartphone thing. I use Waze GPS. I text, call and I use the weather app. Pretty much it and I can do all that on a cheap android phone.

I have three phones all Androids. No fruit labeled electronic products allowed in my home.

My son bought the Mrs an "i" thingy telecom communication device. Almost caused a marital incident.

.As far as a minimalist phone, I would kill to be able to have one. Unfortunately my emergency services field negates that dream.

iphone. I find droid open source to be a bit jank. Things like google auto especially are noticeably worse (lots of driving nannies, flaky compatibility, and ugly UI)

You can have the cloud on or off, but you can also specify what items go to the cloud. It's very convenient to have some stuff go to the cloud, maybe texts or emails or settings or photos (although photos and/or videos will eat up your free space).

I haven't put music on my phone in years, but recently put some of my old stuff on my phone because I realized that I had plenty of space.

I also use Waze.

Out of curiosity, why the animosity towards apple, but not google?

I really need to get some one on one help on how to use some of the features on this thing. One of my buds is pretty sharp with tech in general. Next time we go for lunch I will get him to show me what I need.

Wife and kids on Apple, I'm on Android just so I can experience it. I also have a Mac and a Windows laptop. The kids have taken over the iPads.

I’ve had an Apple 16 Pro Max with 512 gb memory for about a year now. Since about 2009, I’ve had two other iPhones. I use it 90% of the time versus my laptop. My laptops have always been Windows based.

The iPhone takes a little getting used to, like anything, but once you learn it, you’re good to go. The latest update changed quite a few things and that’s taking a while to get used to.

With the cloud, you can sync your phone pictures to your laptop/PC. I’ll pack up my pictures to Amazon pictures and Google pictures.
