Ineos Grenadier

Anyone have one?

Been looking at Broncos, Defenders and Grenadiers as my second/winter vehicle. I’ve driven the Grenadier twice on and off-road, last weekend I drove it on a motocross track in the snow and WOW what a blast. Unbelievably good off-road and all very good components. The biggest thing was not a single rattle or squeak the entire time.

A little pricey, but equal to the Defender and a lot more than the Bronco.
A few things I didn’t like but the pros outweigh the cons in my opinion.

I would have concerns about INEOS Automotive staying in business. That's a lot of money to drop like a rock. Maybe not off-road enough, but I like the Lexus GX 550 version of the Land Cruiser. Resale value would be solid. For more money, consider a G-wagon. They feel like they're carved out of one big block of lead.

I think they are freaking awesome and would absolutely buy one if I had a need. They are like an old school Land Cruiser, one of the last true SUVs that you can buy new. Also the Defender is an embarrassment to a proud heritage and horribly unreliable, I know several people who bought them new and have subsequently dumped them due to reliability issues.

they are all over Marin County. I love them, but I'm not so much Granadier budgeted these days.

I was going post the same thing regarding the GX550. It is essentially the same as the Toyota Land Cruiser, but curiously, the GX550 is more heavy-duty.

It has a V6 and available 3rd row.

If you are going to drop big bucks on something, why not a low mile Landcruiser? Not the new ones, the last of the 200 series. My concern with the Ineos would be the same one Steve mentioned. What if you end up owning a unicorn from a dead company?

I follow this woman on Insta (Over in the Rover). She has an old 2 door Land Rover she calls Blue T i t. It runs, breaks down, gets fixed, and on and on. I'm pretty sure she did a cross US in an Ineos but I can't find the video. Here is her in the UK with one. She also has done work with James May and Izzy Hammond (daughter of Hamster)

i thought about getting one, but a friend talked me out of it.
same reason - how long will the company be around.

ok the engine's from a bimmer, but the trim parts are usually the issue.
sanity prevailed and i passed. the mazda might not look as good but it gets me to the mall and back.

I thought it was a BMW I-6

Friend just bought one

I would buy one in a heart beat but the closest dealer to me is about 600 miles. So, same issue I have with Lotus. No thanks.

My 200 Series LC is great.

Agree on them staying around long term

I saw a Grenadier recently at Costco. First time I’ve seen one, and I wasn’t sure if it was a Range Rover, Hyundai or what. I liked it.

Google says it's an in-house engine. From the Lexus website:

V-6 twin turbo.

N/A in the LandCruiser version, you gotta go hybrid. I'd go Lexus over Toyota if I was in the market.

thingmon 12-03-2025 08:53 PM

There's one in my work's parking lot periodically. Oddly, the name on the building is the same. Maybe not that odd. I'm at one of their chemical plants.
Check the corp balance sheet. I would think that business unit would be dropped or spun off, if the EU Ops don't pick up.

Jeff Alton 12-03-2025 11:16 PM

They are on big sale out here, because no one wants one.

I like them, Been an older LR fan for years... grew up with them in Africa.

B58 BMW I6, not an engine I want in a car when it comes off warranty....

Cheers

I have spotted quite a few in NC
This was cruising on the beach by Kill Devil Hills.

Horrible fuel economy though.

There's a dealership in Marin (san Rafael) with attractive leasing on them, like $700/mo or less... It's got a lot of buttons, most of which are not doing much, it has presence, wife was interested but ultimately the truck is not super refined and steers funny.

San Rafael is strange, its relative proximity to SFO and blue collar population/land prices makes it home of all repair centers for $$ brands of thebay area, Ferrari, Maserati, Bentley, Ineos, Lambo, and get this... Pagani !! I have a Pagani repair center down the street from me... Visited it once, amazing cars.. Homeless encampment 1 street away, literally!

Steve Carlton 12-04-2025 11:11 AM

I wish I could go to Pagani for service.
