Not so funny. If I die after Cindy? Not likely, but IF? My estate will go to the local no kill animal shelter. Why? Pretty simple the way I see it. Our now 33 year old daughter has delivered nothing but a pile of bad decisions, and a raft of *****, financially and emotionally, on us since she hit puberty. The only time she bothers to make contact is when she wants money, or support for her latest whacko decision like WICCA. Our pets, on the other hand, have shown nothing but gratitude for the care we have given them. Gee...think it over... At 33, she's a big girl, can make her own decisions. And can take care of herself. Unless, of course, she calls home for money. So yes...I can understand why a billionaire would leave everything to a cat. Why not? If I'm dead, I should care???

One or two kids I've grown up with have completely X'd their folks out of their lives after finding out the money won't be passed down like the nose, eyes or unibrow.

Fine by me. Difference? Our daughter doesn't know, plus she's adopted, Cindy's child from an early marriage. But the daughter & I get along much better now that we aren't speaking. Our relationship has led me to believe that genetics do rule over envrionment. Really, I did my best. But after she turned 12-13? I changed. No longer was I a cool guy...nope, I became an ignorant S.O.B. Only capable of writing checks. She's well educated, thanks to our, and her grandparent's $$$, has a good annual salary. I just don't want to talk to her anymore. So, being an old fart, I should be sorry if a kid wants to X me out of her life? To the contrary, I'm freakin' delighted!

Moses...ok...now if it was a "should only be a week thing" i'd hope my hubby wouldn't pull the plug just yet....my life insurance isn't that big anyway. ;)
It was pretty sobering when we filled out our wills & health care directives. I was a little surprised how many things we both wanted that were the same because we really never talked that much in depth about it before then. As far as what people leave to others when they are gone...that's totally up to them. I find it funny when people start staking claims on other people's stuff before they are even gone. For example...I have a lot of siblings (9 sisters, 2 brothers). It bugs me when I hear one of them make comments about things they really want when mom dies. I'm like...HELLO...she is not dead yet & in pretty good health for being 76...if you want it so bad ask her if you can buy it now so she can use the money for a nice trip somewhere. ;) :D ;) |
I've got absolutely nobody so I guess I'll leave it to Wayne to pay for a new server and a bit more bandwidth.

At least that's what I've assumed with everyone else that's forgotten me. I've got a lot of stuff coming to me... |
