I had a Krups Model 996..French Press/Expresso maker for 10 years...I got in the habit of making 2 strong cups of coffee in the mornining while I went online or read the newspaper. In February my little Krups died...They had long since discontinued my 996 and I was forced to start looking around for another machine. Everything I saw in the Department Stores didn't quite do what I wanted it to do, and was rather cheaply made. So I went online and discovered the website where I eventaully purchased my machines. Once I started reading the customers reviews on the different machines, I discovered that with the cheaper machines there was always a shortcoming with the machine. With the higher end machines people were always glad that they had stepped up to the better machines. So after reading about the various machines...I discovered the Salvatore....It seemed to be the best of the lot with commercial machine components and it is HAND BUILT ONE AT A TIME. That is a rarity today, so I bought one. The grinder also from the description and reviews seems to be the best of the lot so I bought one of those also so that I could make the very best 2 cups of coffee in the morning that I can..

I am very happy with the Salvatore...it is easy to use, and has a 2 or 3 step process to making coffee to keep me happy...It's a GREAT TOY. The Mini Mazzer on the other hand has been giving me some problems...it has tended to get clogged up and won't grind the beans easily...it maybe due to the fact that I am using Yemen Moca Dark Roasted Beans which are oily. The other thing with the Mazzer is that it has a large ground coffee dispenser on the front...and I only grind enough of Cofffee in the mornining to make my 2 cups....So....????

I have to shake my burr grinder occasionally because the oily beans (Starbucks Espresso Roast) get hung up in the throat of the funnel. I thought $500 was a bit steep for my set up 5 years ago, but I recoped my money after 6 months of use. It's going to take at least a couple of years before your out of the red Tabs.
