If DeWalt suck so bad, why do most of the reno shows use them?

Because Dewalt gives the the tools free or cheap for free advertising. Have you ever noticed how every car in some shows is a Ford or a Chevy? It's because Ford or Chevy is using the show as an hour long commercial. Same with many shows using Cisco IP phones and Telepresence these days. Lots of shows feature Apple laptops.

Companies provide products or even pay to have their products used in shows. It's good advertising.

What better advertising than having every DIY/Renovation show on H&G using Dewalt.

That said, I understand that some of the $$$ Dewalt stuff is quality. I believe it's the really cheap stuff that you get at the big box stores that's kind of crappy.

I really like Makita and Milwaukee products.

Last time i was looking at cordless drills the Ryobi was ~$200, makita was ~$350 and the dewalt was $500+.. guess i was associating $$ with quality.
(Aust $ from a few years ago...)
i guess i have seen Holmes (Make It Right®) calling for a new battery on more than one occasion...

Dewalt tools are fine, but the batteries are ****.

We use makita. A makita 18v Li Ion is about the best cordless out there right now.

Sadly, many who looked at that have no idea where Libya really is.
