While I definitely don't condone animal abuse I don't necessarily see the abuse there. Our dogs go in an out whenever they want, and I spend a lot of my time playing doorman for them. But I had a collie who would ask to go outside, and do exactly that. Lay down and get covered in snow. I don't know if being indoors with a full winter coat was too hot for her or what, but she seemed to love it. I'd be out getting wood from the wood pile and offer to let her come in with me when I held the door open, and she'd just look at me like I was crazy! When she was ready to come back in shewould scratch at the door and we'd let her in.

Now if that was a short-hair breed, or if someone can state that she was outside for hours whining to come in and being ignored, I'll grab my pitchforks and torches and join the rest demanding the owner's head!

A friend of mine had a Husky. She said that dog preferred to be outside in the snow. He would beg to go outside when it was snowing and as soon as he got out he would romp around and roll in the snow. He would go the the back of the lot and lay down and get covered in snow. She would offer treats and try to talk him into coming in. That dog wanted to be outside in the snow.



There. I fixed it. More head room.
