Location: Placerville, CA.... You know, the only place on Highway 50 between Sacramento and Lake Tahoe the you find signal lights. Above the fog most of the time and I can see the stars of the Milky Way 8 out of 10 nights. Kinda cool.....

And back then they didn't care what kind of job it was, no work was beneath them.
When WWII ended my grandfather was discharged from the seebees in San Diego. His wife and young daughter (my mom) were there to meet him, but they only had enough money to make it to Tucson. So he got a job on the railroad fixing cars and such. There was an old caboose in the yard and they lived in it for 6 months until he had earned enough money to get on the road again. 6 months in an old caboose, in Tucson in the summer, no AC...... no plumbing ..... they were allot tougher then. ![]() |
